The essentials: Free 90-minute sessions run daily until 20 December 2026. The operator lists starts at 16:00, 18:00 and 20:00 (last session until 21:30). Book online, pay a refundable 19.10 zł deposit and bring two towels or rent them. Sessions are mixed and textile-free.

Warsaw's Vistula District (Dzielnica Wisła) has ended its eventful season with an unusual gift: a new outdoor sauna in Park Żerański, free to use, with a view over Port Żerański. The city announced the project on 6 November 2026. If you live in Białołęka, Bielany or anywhere along the northern stretch of the river - or you simply want a very Warsaw way to survive November - here is how it works.
A Participatory Budget project
The sauna was created under a project submitted to the city's 2026 Participatory Budget (Budżet Obywatelski), the scheme in which residents propose and vote on local investments. It caps a busy year in the district: this season Park Żerański also gained new water-play equipment, a seasonal kayak rental and a programme of outdoor events.

Sessions, hours and what it costs
Sessions take place daily in 90-minute slots, with starts at 16:00, 18:00 and 20:00 listed by the operator. Using the sauna is free of charge, but two things are required: advance booking through the operator's booking page and a symbolic refundable deposit. Participants must bring at least two towels - or rent them on site. Two details first-timers should know before booking: the sauna is co-educational (mixed) and textile-free.
Where exactly it is
The sauna stands in the southern part of Park Żerański, right by the main alley that runs along the shoreline, overlooking Port Żerański. The city quotes Jan Piotrowski, the Warsaw mayor's plenipotentiary for the Vistula, describing warmth, urban greenery and relaxation as the signature of the Żerański Canal area and encouraging residents to stay close to nature.
Getting there
By public transport, take a bus to the Kanał Żerański 01 or 02 stops, or a train to Warszawa Toruńska station. The city also suggests arriving by bike. The mobile sauna is available daily until 20 December 2026.
A local tradition behind it
Outdoor sauna sessions in the Vistula District are not new - the city notes a tradition going back more than ten years, since the first publicly accessible container sauna appeared. Mobile sauna sessions have since accompanied district events such as its Marine School and the riverside New Year's Eve celebrations, with the best-known venue being the long-running Sauna Wisła. The Park Żerański sauna adds a permanent-feeling, bookable option for the whole late-autumn season.
Book a session, not just a trip to the park
The operator's 2026 booking page gives a more detailed timetable than the city's short announcement: three 90-minute sessions starting at 16:00, 18:00 and 20:00. Treat those as session start times: a 90-minute session starting at 20:00 runs until 21:30. The city summarises the programme as running between 16:00 and 20:00; that wording should not be read as a promise that an unbooked visitor can arrive at any point and join a session already in progress.
Registration is required through the operator's website. New dates are released one week in advance, according to the booking page. If you are planning a visit later in the season, a date that has not yet been released is not the same thing as a confirmed cancellation. Equally, an advertised daily programme is not proof that a particular session has spare places. Check the actual date and time offered in the reservation system before arranging your journey.
The programme is listed from 31 October to 20 December 2026. It is a limited autumn-and-early-winter project, not a year-round promise. If you are organising an outing for visiting friends, give them the reservation details for the same session rather than simply telling everyone to meet at the sauna. The published material does not describe this as a private group hire, and a normal booking should not be treated as exclusive use of the venue.
The deposit and towels: what "free" covers
The operator specifies a 19.10 zł refundable deposit, returned after the session. That makes the arrangement more precise than a general claim that there is nothing to pay or organise. The sauna session itself is free; the deposit is still money you need to account for when booking. Follow the payment and refund instructions provided with your reservation. The short programme page does not state a bank-processing timetable, so do not build your budget around an assumed instant return to a particular card or account.
Bring two towels of your own, or arrange the required rental if you do not have them. The operator's page does not give a towel-rental price, so "free sauna" should not be taken to mean that every extra item is supplied without charge. If you are arriving from a hotel or a newly rented apartment with limited belongings, settle the towel question before leaving rather than expecting the refundable deposit to cover it.
For an English speaker, a few words on the Polish page are useful: seans means a session, zapisy means registration, kaucja is the deposit, and zwrotna means refundable. The important combination is that the session is bezpłatna, or free, while registration and the deposit are still required.
Who can attend, and what textile-free means here
The operator allows adults and minors accompanied by a parent or guardian. That is an admission rule, not a recommendation that the experience suits every child. Parents should read the operator's session and safety instructions before deciding whether to book for their family, and should not assume that the free public programme is a supervised children's activity.
Two other Polish terms describe the format: koedukacyjna means mixed, and beztekstylna means textile-free. The booking information does not describe separate men's and women's sessions or a swimsuit session. If you would only feel comfortable in one of those formats, ask the operator rather than booking on the assumption that it will be available when you arrive.
The two-towel requirement remains part of the published rules. Read it together with the textile-free rule, rather than interpreting one as cancelling the other. If you are unfamiliar with this kind of sauna, use the operator's instructions for how the space is used. This is a guide to the booking arrangement, not a personal heat-exposure programme or a substitute for medical advice about whether using a sauna is suitable for you.
Plan the journey around the right place
Use Park Żerański and the shoreline location when planning your route. The city places the sauna in the park's southern part beside the main alley along the water. The named public-transport options are the Kanał Żerański 01 and 02 bus stops and Warszawa Toruńska railway station. Check the current journey planner for your starting point and session date; the announcement does not supply a door-to-door walking time from each stop or a guaranteed direct service from every district.
The city also suggests cycling. That is an access option, not a statement that a bicycle is included in the reservation or that a particular parking arrangement has been booked for you. The same distinction applies to the park itself: a waterside setting is part of the attraction, but the sauna reservation is the specific activity you are arranging. Allow time to find it before your session begins, particularly if this is your first visit to the area.
Park Żerański is part of a wider riverside programme
The city links the sauna to a broader year of activity around the canal: water-play equipment, a seasonal kayak rental and outdoor events. Those details explain why this location has become more than a place to pass through. They do not mean that a late-autumn sauna booking includes a kayak, access to a summer attraction, or another activity operating on the same timetable.
The November announcement also mentions Saturday sightseeing cruises around Port Żerański aboard the vessel Żer. That is a separate outing, and the sauna booking page is not confirmation of a boat departure, a spare seat or a combined ticket. If the cruise interests you, check its own current reservation information instead of adding it to a sauna itinerary without a booking.
There are other sauna locations in the Vistula District, including the established Sauna Wisła in Port Czerniakowski. That venue is not the Park Żerański sauna. Keep the location names separate when following directions or reading booking terms: similar riverside branding does not make deposits, opening hours or admission arrangements interchangeable.
Using the booking tool in English
The reservation tool embedded in the operator's page offers PL and EN language options. In English it identifies the activity as "Sauna in Żerański Park" and "Sauna session", with a duration of "1 h 30 min" and the price line "Free, PLN 19.10 deposit". Those details help you distinguish the session from another boat or waterside activity on the same operator's site.
Some of the surrounding programme text remains in Polish even on the site's English page, so look for the language option inside the reservation tool itself. The calendar's numbered days are not, on their own, confirmation of a vacant place. Check the session offered for your chosen day and read the reservation details before paying the deposit. Keep the confirmation so you can refer to the same date, time and activity if you need to ask the operator about your visit.
