Wednesday, 28 October 2026, morning edition. Poland's selection for a European Patriot missile-maintenance centre leads this briefing, alongside a proposed change at the funds ministry and practical Warsaw transport arrangements before All Saints' Day. The national announcements below were made on Tuesday, 27 October 2026; they are not presented as new Wednesday decisions. Sources were checked this morning.

Poland selected for Patriot maintenance centre

Poland's defence ministry confirmed on 27 October 2026 that a centre for servicing PAC-3 missiles used in Patriot air-defence systems will be established in Poland. The ministry said the decision followed work with the United States and Lockheed Martin. Deputy Defence Minister Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka said the aim was to shorten the process that currently requires missiles needing recertification to be sent to the United States.

Notes from Poland and Polish Radio's English Section both reported the selection on Tuesday. The important distinction is between maintaining missiles and manufacturing them: the announced facility concerns maintenance and sustainment, not a newly confirmed missile-production plant. Polish Radio reported that the location within Poland had not been disclosed in the comments it covered.

Accounts differ over the full list of rival host-country bids, so this brief does not reproduce a definitive list. The shared, officially confirmed point is Poland's selection. For readers following defence-sector investment, the next useful details will be the specific location, implementation timetable and confirmed scope, rather than treating an announcement as an already operating facility.

Bartol proposed to lead funds ministry

Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on 27 October 2026 that he would propose Agnieszka Bartol, Poland's permanent representative to the European Union, as minister of funds and regional policy. The prime minister's office published the statement following Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz's resignation. It said Tusk had consulted coalition partners and stressed the task of accounting for EU funding, including recovery-plan money.

The official wording establishes a proposed appointment. It should not be read as proof that Bartol has already completed every formal step and taken office. For people following EU-funded projects, this is a leadership development, not by itself a new application deadline, eligibility rule or funding award. Check the relevant programme's own notices for changes affecting an application.

Warsaw: check the date of your cemetery service

Warsaw Public Transport's arrangements already affect the working week of 26-30 October 2026. Its notice says cemetery bus C40 runs every ten minutes during that period and serves the main, southern and western gates of Cmentarz Północny. Other selected regular routes have changed routes, extra journeys or larger vehicles. Check the operator's timetable for the actual departure you need.

A separate WTP notice covers Saturday, 31 October, and Sunday, 1 November 2026, with 28 special bus and tram lines. The operator warns of traffic and parking restrictions around major cemeteries and gives public transport priority. Monday, 2 November 2026, has different arrangements: the special cemetery bus lines will not run, although some regular services change. Do not apply the weekend plan to Wednesday or Monday simply because the destination is the same.

Before setting out: confirm the cemetery gate, travel date and return journey on WTP's current pages. These notices describe Warsaw, not a nationwide transport timetable.
