Białystok Public Transport Tickets and Prices 2026 (BKM)
Short answer: A single paper ticket in Białystok is 5 zl (reduced 2.50 zl), a 24-hour ticket is 16 zl, and a named monthly pass in zone 1 is 130 zl (BKM price list).
Białystok's city buses are run under the BKM brand (Białostocka Komunikacja Miejska). The BKM site says its tariff has applied since 14 March 2023 and was updated on 1 August 2026. This guide gives the main prices for single, time-based and periodic tickets, explains the zones, and lists the discounted passes the BKM price list shows for specific groups. Prices are given as normal and reduced (ulgowy).
Zones
According to the city's page on the 2023 tariff change, Białystok has four tariff zones. Zone 1 covers the city itself. Zones 2, 3 and 4 apply on BKM lines outside the city. The current price list shows zone 1, zone 2 and a network ticket for zones 1+2. Check the BKM site for the zone of any line you use outside the city.
Single tickets
Prices from the BKM price list:
- paper single-ride ticket, zone 1: 5.00 zł normal and 2.50 zł reduced;
- paper single-ride network ticket, zones 1+2: 12.00 zł and 6.00 zł;
- electronic single ticket (from the e-wallet on the Białystok City Card): 4.00 zł and 2.00 zł in zone 1, 3.80 zł and 1.90 zł in zone 2, 7.80 zł and 3.90 zł for zones 1+2.
BKM explains that you buy the electronic single ticket by registering the City Card when you enter the vehicle. The fee is charged as for a ride to the end of the route, and registering the card when you leave allows part of it to be returned.
Time tickets
- 30 minutes: 5.00 zł (reduced 2.50 zł), zone 1 only;
- 60 minutes: 7.00 zł (3.50 zł) in zone 1, 15.00 zł (7.50 zł) for zones 1+2;
- 24 hours: 16.00 zł (8.00 zł) in zone 1, 28.00 zł (14.00 zł) for zones 1+2;
- 3 days: 34.00 zł (17.00 zł) in zone 1, 58.00 zł (29.00 zł) for zones 1+2;
- 3-day weekend ticket: 31.00 zł (15.50 zł) in zone 1, 57.00 zł (28.50 zł) for zones 1+2.
Periodic tickets with your name on them
Named periodic tickets, normal and reduced price:
- monthly: 130 zł and 65 zł in zone 1, 134 zł and 67 zł in zone 2, 264 zł and 132 zł for zones 1+2;
- 30-day: 140 zł and 70 zł in zone 1, 144 zł and 72 zł in zone 2, 284 zł and 142 zł for zones 1+2;
- three-month: 370 zł and 185 zł in zone 1;
- 10-day: 76 zł and 38 zł in zone 1;
- 5-day: 56 zł and 28 zł in zone 1.
Bearer periodic tickets, which anyone can use, are 145 zł for 30 days in zone 1 and 295 zł for zones 1+2. For bearer tickets BKM applies a 50 percent discount to all passengers, so the price shown is the same for everyone and no proof of entitlement is needed.
Discounted passes for specific groups
The BKM price list includes separate price lists for several programmes:
- families taking part in the Białystok Large Family Card programme: a zone 1 monthly named pass at 65 zł normal and 32.50 zł reduced, according to the list;
- taxpayers of the city who are over 60: the list shows a zone 1 monthly named pass at 52 zł with a 60 percent discount;
- residents of the Wasilków municipality with the Wasilkowianin card and large families from the Juchnowiec Kościelny municipality have their own lists.
BKM states that children and teenagers from Białystok families with five or more children taking part in the city's large family programme are entitled to free travel in zone 1 until the end of the month in which they turn 18. The conditions are in the programme rules, so ask BKM before relying on it.
Tips for new residents
- The list shows both a monthly pass (130 zł in zone 1) and a 30-day pass (140 zł). Ask BKM how the two differ in validity before you choose.
- Register for the Białystok City Card if you want the cheaper electronic single ticket.
- Reduced fares need proof of entitlement, except for bearer passes.
- The BKM price list is updated from time to time. The latest update date shown is 1 August 2026, so check it before you buy a long pass.
