Bielsko-Biała has one of the simpler ticket systems among Polish cities: there are no fare zones, and from 1 January 2026 long-period tickets live on a free electronic card. This guide uses pages from the city hall and the city transport company MZK. The 2025 tariff figures come from an MZK FAQ dated December 2024, so confirm current prices at a ticket machine, in the e-shop or at a passenger service point before you buy a pass.

No zones

According to MZK, there are no tariff zones in the Bielsko-Biała network. Every ticket is valid on city and suburban lines, and also on night and workers' lines, during the ticket's validity period. You do not need a separate suburban ticket.

Ticket types and prices

MZK's FAQ about the tariff in force from 1 January 2025 gives these prices, which the transport company marks as reduced (U) and normal (N):

  • 70-minute ticket: 3 zloty reduced, 6 zloty normal.
  • 24-hour ticket: 8.50 zloty reduced, 17 zloty normal.
  • Weekend ticket 2+3: 30 zloty. It covers one or two adults travelling with at least one and at most three children up to age 16, for unlimited rides from 0:00 on Friday to 23:59 on Sunday. An adult without a child cannot use it.

Another MZK page, which is undated, gives example prices of 5 zloty for a normal single ticket and 140 zloty for a normal 30-day ticket, and says students and some other groups pay half. Because the pages are from different dates, check the current price list.

On the bus, drivers sell only the 70-minute and 24-hour tickets, according to the FAQ. Other short tickets can be bought through mobile validators on board. A bike needs its own ticket if you hold a long-period ticket, while MZK says there is no charge for luggage or animals.

The Passenger Card (Karta Pasażera KMBB)

The city hall announced on 28 December 2025 that from 1 January 2026 paper MZK ID cards and cardboard 7-day, monthly and annual tickets are withdrawn. The Passenger Card KMBB becomes the only carrier of electronic long-period tickets and the document that confirms the passenger's identity.

  • The card is free. A duplicate costs 20 zloty.
  • You apply with a current photo, like an ID photo, through the MZK ticket website or in person at the passenger points at Krasińskiego 6/9 and Długa 50 in Bielsko-Biała. You need to show an identity document when applying and when collecting the card.
  • You load 7-day, 30-day, 90-day, reduced and annual tickets onto the card.
  • Paper tickets remain only from stationary ticket machines, and only for 7 days and for a calendar month. The city says you must write your ID number or card number on the printout.
  • You can check the validity of a ticket on the card at mobile validators on buses.

If you use a reduced fare, you must also carry a document that proves your entitlement.

BBbilet: the resident discount

Residents who live in the city and settle their personal income tax there can get a BBbilet discount on long-period tickets. According to the city hall in March 2026, the offer includes a 30-day ticket at 120 zloty normal and 60 zloty reduced, and a 90-day ticket at 330 zloty normal and 165 zloty reduced.

Any adult living in Bielsko-Biała who settles PIT there can apply. The city says you attach the first page of last year's PIT return and proof it was filed, or the UPO confirmation for an electronic return. After approval, the entitlement is extended by a year, to 31 May 2027 for those who applied after the 2025 return. Entitlements run to the end of May each year, so you have to renew with the new PIT return.

MZK's FAQ explains common mistakes: sending an electronic PIT without the UPO, attaching a PIT-11 which does not confirm a tax return, and uploading a photo that does not follow ID rules. For online applications the photo should have a 2:3 ratio, between 200x300 and 800x1200 pixels. Children of residents can get BBbilet entitlement on a separate application, up to age 18, or while in school up to age 25, according to the FAQ.

What the sources do not say

The pages do not describe fines for travelling without a valid ticket, and they do not address foreigners specifically. A foreign resident who files PIT in Bielsko-Biała would meet the rule as described, but ask the passenger point if you are unsure which documents are accepted.
