When you apply for a loan, a credit card, a phone contract or sometimes even a flat in Poland, the other side may look you up in a credit register. The best known is BIK (Biuro Informacji Kredytowej, the Credit Information Bureau). A second one, BIG InfoMonitor, holds information about debts. This guide explains what each one holds, what a BIK score means and how you can see your own data. It uses the official pages of BIK (bik.pl) and the consumer help centre of BIG InfoMonitor (big.pl), both read on 18 October 2026. Prices and conditions on those sites can change. The pages we read do not say anything specific about foreigners, so we cannot tell you from them how a newcomer with no Polish history is treated, or which identity methods work for you.

What BIK holds

According to BIK, a BIK report shows all your loans and credits in one place, your payment delays, whether you have debts in the BIG InfoMonitor base, and your BIK score. It also shows purchases with deferred payment (BNPL), in a separate section. Your data goes to BIK each time you apply for a loan at an institution that works with BIK. Inquiries from banks are deleted from BIK after 14 days if no credit agreement followed, unless the bank reports a longer processing. After a credit is granted, BIK receives information on whether you repay on time. BIK says this data is updated within 7 days of a full repayment, a change in amount or the start of a new obligation.

The BIK score

The BIK score is one number from 1 to 100. The higher it is, the higher the probability that you will repay credit on time. To have a score calculated, you must have been repaying a loan or credit of at least 400 zł for at least 6 months. Completed bank loans can also be used if you gave consent for processing data after the loan is closed. BIK says six factors affect the score. The five we could read on the page are:

  • Repayment history: delays of at least 50 zł in the last 12 months, and delays over 90 days of at least 200 zł in the last 36 months.
  • Current repayments: a delay of over 15 days of at least 50 zł.
  • Credit age: bank loans you repay now and ones repaid in the last 5 years. Overdrafts without an agreement, loans from non-banks and BNPL are not counted.
  • New credits: loans of at least 400 zł taken in the last seven months, excluding mortgages and BNPL.
  • Use of limits: how much of credit limits, cards and revolving credits you used in the previous month.

This means that if you have just arrived and have no Polish loans, you may simply have no score. We read this as a consequence of the rules above and not as a statement from BIK about foreigners.

Price and what you get

The BIK page lists a single BIK report at 59 zł. You buy it after creating a BIK account and confirming your identity. BIK says the fastest way is the mObywatel app, or an online transfer of 1 zł from your own bank account. A BIK report is, according to BIK, a service for you only: banks do not see that you checked it and it does not change your score. A report no older than 48 hours gives access to the Credit Analyser tool. BIK also says that there is no such thing as a free BIK report. What is free every 6 months is a copy of your data under article 15 of the GDPR, a formal document without a score or interpretation, and BIK warns that it can take up to a month.

BIG InfoMonitor: the debtor register

BIG InfoMonitor keeps the debtor register. According to its help centre, you check what it holds on you by downloading a "Report about yourself" after registering on big.pl and confirming your identity. You can use your BIK account for this. The report on you and the report from the register of inquiries are free once every 6 months. Inquiries stay in the register of inquiries for 12 months and cannot be deleted before that. BIG says that if you are entered as a debtor, you may not get a loan, a mobile phone contract or an internet contract.

If a creditor wants to enter a debt, the BIG page says the first step is a payment demand that must state the intention to pass your data to the debtor register, and give BIG's name and address.
