Częstochowa Public Transport Tickets 2026: MPK Prices and Passes
Short answer: In Częstochowa a 45-minute ticket costs 5 zł (2.50 zł reduced), a 24-hour ticket 17 zł and a named 30-day pass 130 zł, according to the MPK tariff valid from 10 July 2026.

Częstochowa's buses and trams are run by MPK w Częstochowie S.A. This guide uses the MPK tariff page, which is marked as valid from 10 July 2026 and cites an order of the city mayor (Zarządzenie nr 1195.2026 of 9 July 2026) as its legal basis. Prices are in zloty. For the period and time tickets below, the reduced fare is half of the normal one.
The city card and the electronic purse
MPK issues a plastic city card (Karta Miejska). A named card is issued on the passenger's written application. A bearer card is available after paying a 20 zł deposit, with no application needed. Both can be obtained at MPK sales points. You can load the electronic purse (elektroniczna portmonetka), period tickets and the special school and senior tickets on the card.
The purse works like prepaid credit. The more you load at once, the cheaper each ride. For normal fares, the cost of a ride in zone I (1 to 3 stops) is 3.20 zł if you load 50 zł, 3.00 zł for 100 zł, 2.80 zł for 150 zł and 2.60 zł for 200 zł. In zone II (more than 3 stops) the costs are 4.80, 4.60, 4.40 and 4.20 zł for the same loads. Reduced fares run from 1.60 zł (load 25 zł) to 1.30 zł (load 100 zł) in zone I, and from 2.40 to 2.10 zł in zone II.
Period tickets
Period tickets have no limit on rides, and you do not validate them. All can be loaded on the city card. The named versions, normal and reduced, can also be bought in a mobile app.
- 14-day: 80 zł named (40 zł reduced), 90 zł bearer
- 30-day: 130 zł named (65 zł reduced), 150 zł bearer
- 90-day: 330 zł named (165 zł reduced), 380 zł bearer
A period ticket starts on any day you choose, and there is no reduced bearer version.
Time tickets
Time tickets are meant for people who ride rarely, and each lets you use any number of stops and vehicles during its validity.
- 45 minutes: 5 zł (2.50 zł reduced), not sold by the driver
- 60 minutes: 5.80 zł (2.90 zł reduced)
- 24 hours: 17 zł (8.50 zł reduced)
- 72 hours: 32 zł (16 zł reduced)
You can buy them at MPK sales points, partner shops, mobile ticket machines in some vehicles, from the driver (except the 45-minute ticket), and in apps such as zbiletem.pl, mobilet, jakdojade and skycash. MPK lists which vehicle numbers have ticket machines and which accept coins or only contactless cards. The page also says bank apps may sell the tickets but you need to check this yourself.
Family and group tickets
Family tickets are sold only in mobile apps and are valid for 45 minutes. Prices depend on how many people pay normal and reduced fares, and they run from 9 zł for one adult and two reduced to 15.70 zł for two adults and three reduced. The buyer must point out the other passengers to the inspector, and everyone must travel in the same vehicle. Group tickets for excursions of more than five people cost from 15.70 zł to 42.70 zł depending on the mix of passengers, and can be bought in the app or at MPK sales points.
Special tickets and the address requirement
MPK offers three special reduced tickets. The "Częstochowski Uczeń" student tickets cost 40 zł for 30 days, 90 zł for 90 days and 150 zł for 180 days. They are for pupils at primary and secondary schools in Częstochowa who are registered (zameldowani) in the city and under 21, and they require a valid school ID and a certificate of registration issued by the city or municipal office. The "Częstochowski Senior 365" ticket costs 150 zł per year. It is for pensioners, annuitants and recipients of a care benefit granted by the mayor of Częstochowa, who live in the city and, from 1 January 2027, must be registered there, and who are 60 or older (women) or 65 or older (men).
For foreign residents this matters. The registration certificate must come from a Polish city or municipal office, so if you live in Częstochowa you need to register your address first. The page says nothing specific about foreigners, so ask MPK if you are unsure which documents it accepts.
Bikes and e-vehicles
Carrying a bicycle with the driver's permission costs 5.80 zł. Carrying an electric single-track or multi-track vehicle with the driver's permission costs 25 zł.
What this page does not cover
The tariff page does not list fines for travelling without a ticket, so check MPK's regulations for that. Prices can change, so look at the MPK site before you buy a pass.
