Elbląg tram line 1

Elbląg has both trams and buses, run under the city transport authority ZKM (Zarząd Komunikacji Miejskiej w Elblągu). This guide uses the ZKM price list page, which says a new price list applies from 1 January 2026, plus ZKM's April 2026 notice about 75-minute tickets. The price list is based on council resolution XXIV/674/2013, as amended. All prices are gross, in zloty.

Two zones

Zone I is the city, meaning the Elbląg city municipality and one village, Gronowo Górne, from the neighbouring municipality. Zone II is the suburban zone, covering the rest of the Elbląg municipality and the Milejewo municipality. Zone II tickets are also valid in zone I. ZKM says carrying luggage, a wheelchair, a pram, a bicycle or a pet is free.

Short-term tickets

Prices in zone I, normal and reduced:

  • 5-minute ticket: 2 zł and 1 zł, sold only in the mobile app and ticket machines
  • 10-minute ticket: 3 zł and 1.50 zł, same sales channels
  • 60-minute ticket: 4 zł and 2 zł (5.60 zł and 2.80 zł in zone II), not sold by the driver
  • 75-minute ticket bought from the driver: 5 zł and 2.50 zł (6 zł and 3 zł in zone II)
  • 24-hour ticket: 16 zł and 8 zł, sold by the driver or in the app
  • Weekend ticket: 16 zł and 8 zł, in the app, valid from 16:00 on Friday to 23:59 on Sunday
  • Family weekend ticket: 25 zł in the app, for 2 to 7 people including one or two adults and at least one child under 16

The 75-minute ticket is the result of a change. From 22 April 2026, according to ZKM, the 60-minute tickets sold by drivers were replaced by 75-minute tickets at the same prices. If you travel on one vehicle, the ticket is valid to the last stop on the line.

Period tickets and the EKM card

The Elbląg City Card (Elbląska Karta Miejska, EKM) is a contactless card. It carries period tickets and also works as an electronic purse, where you load points and pay for rides. A local news site describing the system says 1 point is worth 1 zł and that period tickets are saved only on the EKM, available at more than 20 customer points in town or online. That is secondary reporting, so check it with ZKM.

Zone I period ticket prices, normal and reduced:

  • Named 30-day ticket: 108 zł and 54 zł (150 zł and 75 zł in zone II)
  • Named calendar-month ticket: 96 zł and 48 zł (138 zł and 69 zł in zone II)
  • Bearer monthly ticket, which anyone can use: 140 zł (210 zł in zone II), no reduced version
  • Named 10-day ticket: 40 zł and 20 zł (54 zł and 27 zł in zone II)
  • Semester ticket for pupils and students: 220 zł

A calendar-month ticket is valid for the given month, and if you buy it after the month has started it runs from the moment of purchase to the end of that month. All period tickets are valid on the night line.

Discounts for programme participants, pupils and large families

The price list has a lower tariff for people taking part in the city's "wElblągu" programme. In zone I, the named 30-day ticket is 90 zł (45 zł reduced) and the named monthly ticket is 80 zł (40 zł reduced). The 10-day ticket is 32 zł (16 zł reduced). Zone II prices are 130, 120 and 44 zł. To get them you update the data on your EKM card in the customer centre by showing the app or card that proves participation. The page does not explain who qualifies for the programme, so ask ZKM or the city.

Pupils and students of schools and universities in the city and the Elbląg county pay 30 zł for a named monthly ticket or 140 zł for a semester ticket, valid in both zones. You need a valid school or student ID to update the card. Children and young people in the Large Family Card (Karta Dużej Rodziny) programme with reduced-fare entitlement can buy a named monthly ticket for 20 zł, sold only at the ZKM customer centre with a valid Large Family Card document issued by the Elbląg city office and an ID.

Fines

The additional fee for travelling without a valid ticket, or without a document proving a discount, is twice the price of a normal bearer monthly ticket in zone I. By our calculation, that is 280 zł. Stopping or rerouting a vehicle without good reason costs three times that price, or 420 zł by the same calculation. ZKM says the fee is reduced by 70% if paid directly to the inspector or by the next working day at the place named on the payment demand. It is reduced by 60% if paid within 2 to 7 days of the date of the demand. By our calculation the 70% reduction brings 280 zł down to 84 zł, and the 60% reduction to 112 zł. If you can show a discount entitlement or a valid named period ticket bought before the check within 7 days, the fee is refunded or cancelled, minus a handling charge of 5% of the fee.

Practical advice

The page does not say whether foreign residents can use the discounts, and the programme conditions are not listed, so ask before you buy a discounted ticket. Prices can change, so check the ZKM page before you buy a pass.
