Düwag tram in Gorzów Wielkopolski, Poland

Gorzów Wielkopolski, in western Poland, changed its public transport rules at the start of 2026, and the changes keep rolling out through the year. Prices went up, tickets moved to an app and residents with a city card now ride free. This guide uses pages of the city office (news item dated 22 December 2025), the municipal transport company MZK (price list page and a questions and answers notice dated 9 December 2025), read on 18 October 2026. The MZK price list is undated, but it cites the city mayor's order of 11 December 2025 as its legal basis. The sources do not address foreigners or residence status.

Ticket prices from 1 January 2026

For travel within the city limits and to the villages of Baczyna, Czechów, Chwalęcice, Łagodzin and Wawrów, the MZK price list shows:

* single ticket: 5.00 zł (reduced 2.50 zł), * 7-day ticket: 46.00 zł (reduced 23.00 zł), * 14-day ticket: 90.00 zł (reduced 45.00 zł), * named monthly ticket: 154.00 zł (reduced 77.00 zł), * 3-month ticket: 434.00 zł (reduced 217.00 zł).

A single ticket is valid for one ride on one line, however long it takes, or for unlimited rides within 45 minutes of validating it. You must validate the ticket straight after boarding.

On normal lines outside the city limits, the single ticket costs 10.00 zł (reduced 5.00 zł), the 14-day named ticket 164.00 zł (reduced 82.00 zł) and the monthly named ticket 306.00 zł (reduced 153.00 zł). A single ticket on special lines is 10.00 zł (reduced 5.00 zł). Carrying a dog or bicycle is free, and so is a pram, wheelchair or hand luggage.

Free rides with the city card

From 1 January 2026, holders of the city card "KARTA MIEJSKA GORZÓW #StądJestem" and of the Gorzów Resident Card can ride free on all MZK lines until the card expires. The city office says you must show the card together with another photo ID. According to MZK, you can get the city card in a mobile app or in person at the city office. The pages we read do not list the conditions for the card, so check them on the city card website (kartamiejska.um.gorzow.pl) before you rely on it, especially if you are not yet registered as a resident.

Where to buy tickets

MZK explains that the city is moving to electronic tickets. The notice gives these dates:

* from 1 January 2026, electronic tickets are sold only in the moBILET app, and other ticket apps no longer work, * from 1 April 2026, shops and kiosks stop being supplied with paper single tickets (sold until stock runs out), * from 1 April 2026, single and season tickets (7-day, 14-day, monthly, 3-month) can be bought in the moBILET app, and paper single tickets only in the ticket machines inside vehicles.

The notice also says the ticket offices were cut back: the Staszica estate office closed on 1 January 2026, and the main customer centre kept two windows for individual customers only until 31 March 2026. We did not find what the customer centre offers now, so call MZK on 95 728 78 00 if you need an office.

Fines for travelling without a ticket

The price list sets extra charges as multiples of the normal city single ticket, which is 5 zł. The amounts below are our calculation from those multiples, not figures printed by MZK:

* no valid ticket: 65 times the ticket price, about 325 zł, * no valid document for a free or reduced fare: 50 times, about 250 zł, * breaking the rules on carrying items or animals: 30 times, about 150 zł, * stopping or diverting a vehicle without a good reason: 250 times, about 1,250 zł.

If you pay within 7 days of the date of the payment demand, the price list gives a 30% discount. Check the amount on the demand itself.
