Legnica is a Lower Silesian city of about 100,000 people, and its buses are run by the city company MPK Legnica. The fare list is short, but it has a few local rules that are easy to miss: a 45-minute single ticket, a named 30-day pass, free travel for seniors over 70, and a combined train and bus ticket. This page summarises the tariff that MPK Legnica publishes on its own website, checked on 19 October 2026.

Single and 24-hour tickets

A single ticket in the city zone (zone I) costs 4.20 zł at the full fare and 2.10 zł at the reduced fare, which is 50% of the full price. It is valid for 45 minutes from the moment you validate it or buy it electronically, and you can change to another line, but not back onto the same line you started on. Zone II, meaning rides that go beyond the city zone and the zone of the neighbouring municipalities that have an agreement with Legnica, costs 8.00 zł full and 4.00 zł reduced. A 24-hour ticket for the city zone costs 14.00 zł, or 7.00 zł reduced.

Luggage and animals need their own ticket. The price is the same as a reduced single ticket in zone I, 2.10 zł for each item or animal.

30-day passes

The named 30-day pass is tied to one person. The price depends on the zone and on how many lines you want:

  • 120 zł full fare, 60 zł reduced: the basic named pass for the city zone.
  • 150 zł full, 75 zł reduced: the tariff marks this price with an asterisk that refers to line 27, which allows a change to line 23 within the city.
  • 180 zł full, 90 zł reduced: valid on all urban and suburban lines.

The MPK page shows these prices in a compressed table, so the split between the columns is our reading of it. Check the exact pass you need on the MPK tariff page.

The tariff also lists a bearer pass, which anyone can use, at 160 zł and 190 zł (the 190 zł one valid on all urban and suburban lines). Cheaper versions exist for local students (30 days 45 zł) and for people aged 65 to 70 (30 days 50 zł, 90 days 100 zł, 180 days 190 zł). Holders of the Legnica Large Family Card pay 1.40 zł for a single ticket and 40 zł for the 30-day pass.

The tariff page on the MPK site says the prices apply from 1 January 2023, and the tariff has been amended since, so check the page before you buy a pass in bulk. The only amendment we found listed in the resolutions on that page is a July 2025 change to the integrated ticket.

Where to buy

According to the MPK frequently asked questions page, you can buy tickets in the mobile ticket machines on the buses, in stationary machines, in the zBiletem app, and at the sales points listed on the MPK website. The bus machines accept only a payment card or BLIK, not cash, and drivers do not sell tickets. If a machine is out of order, the MPK advises buying the ticket in the app. Paper single tickets must be validated straight after you board, including those bought in a machine. MPK says it moved sales of period tickets to the zBiletem app.

Free and reduced fares

The relief page of MPK (in force from 1 January 2025) lists many groups. A few that matter to residents:

  • Free: children up to 4, people who have turned 70, and people with a significant disability. Free travel on European Car Free Day for holders of a driving licence and a valid vehicle registration document.
  • Free with the Legnica City Card: people from 65 and pupils of Legnica schools (up to 25), within the city limits.
  • 50% off: children from 4 until school, pupils up to 24 (domestic and foreign schools), pensioners and some people with disabilities up to 70, doctoral students, and students of foreign universities up to 26.

The list does not say anything about foreign residents as such. What counts is the document, for example a school ID or a pensioner card, so ask MPK if your situation is not clearly on the list.

Train plus bus: the Legnica integrated ticket

The integrated ticket is a named monthly ticket valid on Koleje Dolnośląskie trains on the route written on it and on MPK buses in the chosen zone. At least one station on the ticket must be Legnica, Legnica Piekary, Legnica Strefa, Kunice, Jaśkowice Legnickie, Rzeszotary or Szczedrzykowice. Under the July 2025 resolution, published in the Lower Silesia official journal on 6 August 2025, it costs 100 zł (zone I) or 134 zł (zone II) at the full fare, 50 zł or 67 zł reduced, and 40 zł for a holder of the Legnica Large Family Card in zone I. A city notice of 17 March 2026 says it is not valid on KD Premium trains or trains marked KD Specjal.

Inspectors and fines

If an inspector issues a payment request, MPK says you can pay it or appeal to the company that handles ticket inspections, Kancelaria Wierzyciel. This page does not give the amount of the extra fee, because we did not find it on the MPK pages we read.
