MZK Opole Jelcz city bus

Opole runs its city buses through MZK Opole, and the fares are set by a city council resolution. This guide uses the ticket price list on the MZK Opole passenger portal, which says the extract applies from 1 March 2026, and the council resolution XXV/425/26 of 29 January 2026 that changed some of the rules from that date. Prices below are normal fares in zloty unless stated, and the reduced fare is half of the normal one for most tickets.

Single and short tickets

A single city ticket (bilet jednorazowy miejski) costs 4.20 zł, or 2.10 zł reduced. It covers one person on day lines. Besides the ride itself, it allows any number of trips on day lines within 45 minutes of validation, and the waiting time for a change counts toward those 45 minutes. A night ticket for night lines is 5.20 zł (2.60 zł reduced), with the same 45-minute rule on night lines.

A 24-hour ticket (bilet dobowy) costs 13 zł, or 6.50 zł reduced. It works on all lines, night lines included, for 24 hours from validation, with unlimited changes. A group ticket for up to 15 people on one vehicle is 54 zł (27 zł reduced). The weekend ticket costs 22.20 zł normal. It runs from 19:00 on Friday to 23:00 on Sunday and covers all lines including night ones.

The resolution of 29 January 2026 added a rule for single tickets: you may pay a single fare with several tickets whose combined value is at least the fare due, as long as you validate them in the same minute or in two consecutive minutes. A validated ticket may not be handed to another person.

Passes

Bearer passes (na okaziciela) can be used by anyone who holds them. The 10-day pass costs 61 zł and the 30-day pass costs 190 zł. Named passes (imienne) are tied to one person and are cheaper: the 30-day named pass for all lines is 121 zł (60.50 zł reduced), and the 90-day named pass is 350 zł (175 zł reduced). A 30-day named pass limited to one or two day lines is 96 zł (48 zł reduced).

On the normal-fare 30-day and 90-day tickets, the price list says one extra person up to 18 years old, who must carry a document confirming their age, can travel with the holder on Saturdays and Sundays on all lines.

From 1 March 2026, a refund of a 30-day bearer ticket depends on giving the correct PIN of the OPOLKA! bearer card and the customer number linked to it.

Tickets for students and pupils

The 150-day semester ticket is a named ticket for one or two day lines. It costs 224 zł and is available at the reduced rate to pupils up to age 24, students of first, second-cycle and long master's programmes up to age 26, and doctoral students up to age 35. The school holiday ticket for pupils up to age 24 covers all day lines from 1 July to 31 August and costs 82 zł.

Outside the city limits

Lines that run beyond the city boundary use separate suburban prices. A single suburban ticket is 5.40 zł (2.70 zł reduced) and is valid for up to 60 minutes. A ticket valid only inside the suburban zone is 3.20 zł. The suburban 24-hour ticket is 19 zł, and the 30-day named suburban pass for all lines is 160 zł (80 zł reduced).

Free rides and reduced fares

The price list names several groups with free rides. One is owners and co-owners of a passenger car, who ride free every Friday. To use this, carry a photo ID (or confirm identity in the mObywatel app) and the vehicle registration document, or the vehicle data shown in mObywatel, for a car with a valid technical inspection. One registration document covers one passenger. The resolution also lists free travel for blood donors with the relevant honorary donor cards, transplant donors, and certain children in foster care and care homes who live in Opole.

Pensioners and annuitants pay the reduced fare when they show photo ID together with their pensioner card (the mObywatel version counts) or another document from a pension authority. The resolution and the price list do not say anything about foreign residents, so if you are not sure whether a discount applies to you, ask MZK Opole directly. Other conditions apply to each group, so check the full list of entitlements on the MZK portal before relying on a discount.

Bikes

Bikes can be carried in buses in places marked with a pictogram, free of charge. On working days this is not allowed from 6:00 to 9:00 and from 13:00 to 17:00. On days off there is no time limit. Passengers with bikes must board last and must secure the bike for the whole ride, and spaces marked for wheelchair users and prams have priority.

Contact

The portal gives MZK Opole's phone number as (77) 40 23 100 and the e-mail address as [email protected]. Prices change, so check the current list on the portal before you buy a pass. This article does not cover fines for travelling without a valid ticket.
