PIT-2 in Poland: 300 zł Monthly Tax Reduction with Several Employers
What to know: A PIT-2 declaration lets an employer reduce your monthly advance tax by up to 300 zł (one twelfth of 3,600 zł). It stays valid in later years and can be split among up to three payers.

Every taxpayer in Poland whose income is taxed on the tax scale has a tax-free amount of 30,000 zł. In practice it works as a tax reduction of 3,600 zł a year, which is 12% of 30,000 zł. A declaration to your employer, known as PIT-2, controls whether that reduction shows up in your monthly pay or only in your annual return. This guide follows the Polish tax administration page on PIT-2, PIT-2A and PIT-3 declarations (podatki.gov.pl, published 18 February 2026 and updated 24 June 2026), as read on 19 October 2026.
How the 3,600 zł becomes 300 zł a month
The tax-free amount of 30,000 zł is one amount, shared across all your income taxed on the tax scale. With the 12% rate it means a 3,600 zł tax reduction. The payer, such as an employer, takes one twelfth of it, 300 zł, off each monthly advance payment of tax.
If you do not file the declaration with any payer, the payer does not reduce the advance during the year, by up to 300 zł a month. According to the tax office, you then get the full 3,600 zł reduction only when you file the annual return.
Who can file the declaration
Since 1 January 2023, all payers that withhold advance tax can apply the reduction. These include employers, clients under zlecenie contracts and pension bodies. The declaration can be filed for income such as employment pay, zlecenie and contract-for-specific-work (o dzieło) income, management contracts, managerial contracts, property rights, and a pension from abroad.
You can file it in writing or in another way accepted by the payer, including the payer's own payroll system. You may use the PIT-2, PIT-2A or PIT-3 forms published on podatki.gov.pl under Personal taxes, PIT, Forms, or the payer's own form. You can file it at any moment in the year. The payer applies it no later than from the month after the month in which it received it. A pension body has two months.

How it is split between payers
The default is one twelfth, 300 zł. In the declaration you can instead give one twenty-fourth (150 zł) or one thirty-sixth (100 zł). You can divide the 300 zł among at most three payers, and the total reduction applied by all payers in a month cannot exceed 300 zł. If you have two employers and file with both, each can reduce the advance by at most 150 zł.
If one payer takes the full reduction automatically, for example a pension body paying you a pension, it keeps doing so unless you file a declaration with a different split or ask it not to apply it. A person who is a pensioner and works can, for example, file with both payers so each applies up to 150 zł, or ask the pension body not to reduce and file with the employer for the full 300 zł.
One declaration is enough
A declaration applies in later years too, so you do not need to renew it every year. A PIT-2 filed before 2023 still works, and the payer reduces the advance by 300 zł a month. If your circumstances change, you must change or withdraw it. A payer stops applying it when the legal relationship ends, for example when your employment contract is terminated.
Business income and employment together
If you also run a business taxed on the tax scale and calculate your own advances, you use the full 3,600 zł reduction from the first month. You may still file a declaration with your employer for a chosen share. The page warns that if the reductions in the year exceed 3,600 zł in total, tax may be due in the annual return.
Who bears the risk of a mistake
The payer is not responsible for under-withholding that results from following your declaration. If you give information that leads to too little tax being withheld, consequences such as a top-up payment in the annual return fall on you.
What it means for expats
If you start a job in Poland, file the declaration with your employer in your first week, because the payer can apply it only from the following month. If you change jobs or have two at once, check how the 300 zł is divided so that the total stays at 300 zł a month. If you also have business income, ask an adviser how it fits.
