Suwałki Public Transport 2026: Tickets, Passes, NFC Validators
What to know: A single bus ticket in Suwałki costs PLN 3.60 (PLN 1.80 reduced) and a 30-day named pass PLN 104; riding without a ticket costs 50 times the single fare, PLN 180.

Suwałki, in north-eastern Poland close to the Lithuanian border, runs a city bus network with a short and fairly simple tariff. The price list below is published on the city bus service site skk.suwalki.pl, dated 1 September 2026, and it quotes the city council resolution that sets the fares. It applies to the city and to the surrounding Suwałki commune.
Single, 60-minute and 24-hour tickets
Inside the city, a normal single-ride ticket costs PLN 3.60 and a reduced one costs PLN 1.80. If you plan to change buses, the 60-minute ticket is better value than two singles: PLN 5.00 normal or PLN 2.50 reduced, valid on all lines for 60 minutes from validation in the first vehicle. The 24-hour ticket costs PLN 10.00 normal and PLN 5.00 reduced, valid on all lines for 24 hours from validation.
Drivers sell booklets of four reduced single tickets, according to the resolution. Single tickets can be paper or electronic. Period tickets are electronic only.
Passes: 10-day and 30-day
The tariff has named passes only, so a pass cannot be lent to another person.
- 10-day named pass: PLN 44.00
- Monthly or 30-day named pass, normal: PLN 104.00
- Monthly or 30-day named pass, reduced: PLN 53.00
Residents who hold the Suwałki Resident Card (Suwalska Karta Mieszkańca) pay less. With the standard card the 10-day pass is PLN 35.00 and the 30-day pass is PLN 83.00. With the large-family or senior versions, the 10-day pass is PLN 22.00 and the 30-day pass is PLN 52.00. The card is a city programme for residents, so a visitor or a new arrival should not expect to qualify on day one.

Suburban zones A and B
Routes outside the city are priced by zone. Zone A covers villages such as Krzywe, Mała Huta, Zielone Kamedulskie, Biała Woda, Poddubówek and Okuniowiec (up to a named stop). A single ticket there is PLN 5.40 normal and PLN 2.70 reduced, and a 30-day pass is PLN 133.00 normal or PLN 77.00 reduced.
Zone B covers villages further out, including Nowa Wieś, Wychodne, Przebród, Sobolewo, Stary Folwark, Płociczno and Lipniak. A single ticket is PLN 8.00 normal and PLN 4.00 reduced. The 30-day pass is PLN 133.00 normal and PLN 81.00 reduced, except for Lipniak, where it is PLN 198.00 normal and PLN 99.00 reduced. Monthly and 30-day tickets are valid on all lines in the city and the commune.
New validators and contactless payment
The operator says the buses now have new electronic validators. According to its instruction page, dated 1 September 2026, the validators let you buy electronic tickets tied to a contactless bank card (NFC), check the validity of electronic tickets, and validate or check paper tickets by QR code. The operator lists the benefits as fast purchase without cash, immediate activation and availability at any hour. A phone or a watch with NFC works the same way as a card, according to the page.
If you are new to town and have a foreign bank card, the practical point is that the validator is the place to buy, so keep your card handy when you board. Check the operator page for the current step-by-step guide, which includes a short film.
Fines, luggage and free rides
Travelling without a valid ticket carries a fee of 50 times the normal single ticket, which is PLN 180 at today's PLN 3.60 fare. If the fee is cancelled, the resolution sets an administrative charge of 10% of that amount, so PLN 18. Large luggage (over 40 x 60 x 20 cm) or a dog, apart from a small dog held in the arms, needs a ticket at 50% of the normal single fare, or PLN 1.80. Without that ticket the fee is 50 times the reduced single fare, PLN 90.
Free rides are set out in the resolution for several groups, including children under four, people over 70, people with a significant disability and their guides or carers, and children, young people and students who hold the Suwałki Resident Card. The resolution also lists days when more people ride free, such as European Car Free Day for owners of cars and Children's Day for those under 18. Check the full list on the operator page before relying on a particular exemption.
