Paid parking in Szczecin runs on two systems: the main Strefa Płatnego Parkowania (SPP) and the separate downtown zone for the Old Town streets (ŚSPP). Both are run by the city. Since 29 September 2026 the rules for the extra fee for an unpaid stop have changed in both. This guide sets out the hours, rates, passes and the new deadline, as published by the city parking office (spp.szczecin.pl) and checked on 18 October 2026.

When and where you pay

In the main SPP you pay Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 17:00. The exceptions are 2 May, 24 December and 31 December, when there is no charge. The ŚSPP covers Old Town streets such as Farna, Grodzka and Mariacka, and there you pay every day from 8:00 to 22:00. The full street list is on the SPP office website. The main zone is split into subzones A and B, and the sign at the street tells you which one you are in.

Rates

The price list page of the SPP office is marked as valid from 1 May 2025 and was still the live list on 18 October 2026. The September 2026 resolutions changed only the extra-fee rules, so check the page for any later update.

* Subzone A: the minimum 15 minutes costs 1.10 zł. The first hour is 4.40 zł, the second 5.20 zł, the third 6.20 zł, and the fourth and every later hour 3.60 zł. * Subzone B: the minimum 15 minutes costs 0.90 zł. The first hour is 3.60 zł, the second 4.30 zł, the third 5.10 zł, and the fourth and later hours 3.60 zł. * Downtown ŚSPP: 15 minutes costs 2.00 zł. The first hour is 8.00 zł, the second 9.60 zł, the third 11.40 zł, and the fourth and later hours 8.00 zł. The rates come from council resolution V/89/24.

Electric cars are exempt from ŚSPP charges according to the price list page. Read the current wording before you rely on it, as the exemption can have conditions.

One free stop

Once a day you can stop for up to 15 minutes at no charge, but only if you take a "zero" ticket from the machine or the app. Without the ticket the stop counts as unpaid. A delivery stop of up to 15 minutes in a designated place also gets a zero ticket.

How to pay

* Parking machines take coins from 10 gr to 5 zł (no change is given), cards and BLIK. * Mobile apps: SkyCash, moBiLET, AnyPark, mPAY and Flowbird. * The SPP office at al. Wojska Polskiego 105, open Monday 7:00 to 17:00 and Tuesday to Friday 7:00 to 15:00. * The e-shop of the SPP office (e-sklep.spp.szczecin.pl) for passes.

Passes and discounts

A monthly pass costs 300 zł for subzone A or 200 zł for subzone B. It is sold only to people who pay income tax in Szczecin and live there, or to entities seated in the city. An A pass is valid in the whole SPP. Any driver can buy a pass for 1 to 23 working days at 40 zł a day (A) or 30 zł a day (B).

Residents of the SPP area can buy a flat fee of 220 zł for 6 months or 440 zł for 12 months. The page says the owner must pay income tax in Szczecin. The flat fee covers a chosen two of three streets. Other listed discounts are 10 zł for 12 months for disabled people and their carers, 150 zł a month for hybrid cars under 100 g/km of CO2, and 10 zł for the period 1 September to 31 August for parents of children at schools or nurseries in the SPP.

The sources describe the conditions by tax residence and address, and they do not address foreigners separately. If you are new in the city, ask the SPP office which documents it accepts before you buy a resident pass.

The extra fee after 29 September 2026

If you do not pay, you get a notice under the windscreen and owe an extra fee. Council resolutions XXIV/653/26 (SPP) and XXIV/654/26 (ŚSPP), both dated 8 September 2026, set the following, according to the SPP office news item of 27 September 2026.

* The extra fee is 400 zł. * It drops to 200 zł if you pay within 90 calendar days of the notice being issued or received. Before the change this reduced window was 7 days. * Filing a complaint or a request does not stop or restart the 90 days. * After 90 days the full 400 zł applies. The same rule applies in the ŚSPP. * If the notice was for no SPP payment but you had paid in the ŚSPP or another paid zone, the fee is 50%.

The office publishes the bank account for extra fees on its website. Copy it from there rather than from a message, and use the number on the notice.
