Tarnów public transport 2026: tickets, season passes and fines
Short answer: In Tarnów from 1 May 2026 a single ticket costs 5 zł and a monthly pass 150 zł. Premium City Card holders pay 10 zł a month. Riding without a ticket costs 250 zł.
Tarnów, in Lesser Poland, changed its public transport tariff on 1 May 2026. If you live in or move to the city, the new rules matter more than any older price list you may find online. This guide follows the official pages of the city transport authority, ZDiK Tarnów (komunikacja.tarnow.pl), read on 18 October 2026. The prices are quoted from those pages, which state that they apply from 1 May 2026. The pages are not written specifically for foreigners, and they do not say anything about residence status.
Single tickets and the 5-ride pass
A single ticket valid on one line, or a 30-minute ticket valid on all lines, costs 5.00 zł (reduced fare 2.50 zł). A 5-ride pass valid on one line costs 20.00 zł (reduced fare 10.00 zł).
Two things changed on 1 May 2026, according to the authority's announcement. The 60-minute ticket no longer exists. And drivers now sell only the 5-ride passes on the bus. On a bus with a validator that supports the Tarnów City Card (Tarnowska Karta Miejska), you can instead buy single tickets with the money stored in the card's e-wallet, by choosing the single ticket option on the validator screen. Distance-based electronic tickets, where you tap the card on boarding, were abolished.
Season tickets for everyone
The pages list named (personal) season tickets for all lines:
* 1 month: 150.00 zł (reduced 75.00 zł), * 3 months: 350.00 zł (reduced 175.00 zł), * 6 months: 600.00 zł (reduced 300.00 zł), * 12 months: 1000.00 zł (reduced 500.00 zł).
Season tickets for a single line were removed. Only tickets for all lines remain.
The cheap Premium card tickets
The biggest change is the low price for holders of the Tarnów City Card in the Premium version. They can buy a 1-month ticket for all lines for 10.00 zł (reduced 5.00 zł) and a 3-month ticket for 30.00 zł (reduced 15.00 zł). The authority says the Premium holder must update the card data as the city requires, so read the announcement and ask at a ticket office before you count on this price. We did not read the full conditions for getting the Premium version, so check them before you plan around it.
The Karta Tarnowskiej Rodziny tickets that were meant only for its holders were abolished. Those people can use the cheap Premium tickets instead, according to the announcement.
Combined rail and city tickets
The season ticket page also lists a monthly ticket for holders of the Małopolska Agglomeration Card (Małopolska Karta Aglomeracyjna): 135.00 zł (reduced 67.50 zł). It is available only when its validity period matches the validity of the rail ticket. For Premium card holders in the same system the monthly price is 9.00 zł (reduced 4.50 zł). The page adds that in the agglomeration card ticket machines, you can buy Tarnów tickets only at the standard-card prices.
Who travels free
From 1 May 2026, the announcement adds several groups of people with free rides. These include children up to 31 December of the year in which they turn 7, people with the status of an anti-communist opposition activist or a politically repressed person, holders of the "Zasłużony Dawca Przeszczepu" title, and foundation volunteers on the day of their annual collection. If you think you qualify for free or reduced fare, you need a valid document that proves it.
Fines for riding without a ticket
The authority publishes these extra charges, valid from 1 May 2026:
* riding without a valid ticket, or without a valid document for a free or reduced fare: 250.00 zł, * riding on a ticket whose value is too low by no more than 20%, or carrying items or animals that are excluded from carriage: 100.00 zł, * stopping or diverting a vehicle without a justified reason: 750.00 zł.
The first two can be reduced by 30% if you pay within 7 days of the date of the payment demand: 175.00 zł and 70.00 zł. The fare itself is not reduced. If a fine was charged because you could not show a reduced-fare document or a valid season ticket, a handling fee of 15.00 zł applies to returning or cancelling the charge.
