Hala Koszyki food hall in Warsaw

Three official event pages cover the week of Monday 19 to Sunday 25 October 2026 in Warsaw and Kraków: a free birthday week at Hala Koszyki, the Joseph Conrad literature festival, and the last evenings of the Kraków Autumn Music festival. Programs are in Polish, so this guide gives the dates and what to expect. We read the pages on 19 October 2026. Programs can change, so check the organiser's page before you go.

Warsaw: Koszyki X Fest, 19 to 25 October

Hala Koszyki, which describes itself as the first food hall in Poland, marks ten years since its revival with a week of events. The Warsaw cultural portal PIK (page dated 15 October 2026) says admission to all events is free. The schedule it lists:

  • Monday 19 October: a walk about the history of the Koszykowa area with the guide known as PoWarszawsku, starting at 18:00 from the garden on the Koszykowa side, plus an exhibition of colourised archive photos of the hall.
  • Tuesday 20 October, 20:00: pianist Zofia Łałak plays the recital "The Other Wieniawski", the opening of the tenth season of Midnight Concerts.
  • Wednesday 21 October: Rap & Freestyle Show by Cypher Crew.
  • Thursday 22 October: "Śmiech na Hali", an improvised comedy show in Polish with Kolektyw Śmiesznie and Paulina Gałązka.
  • Friday 23 October: DJ set from 19:00, Bovska at 21:00 and Kosma Król at 22:30. The DJ plays again until 02:00.
  • Saturday 24 October: from 19:00 to 02:00, with the Orkiestra Koszyki by Wuja HZG at 21:00 and 22:30.

The music nights need no Polish. The walk and the comedy show are in Polish.

Kraków: 18th Conrad Festival, 19 to 25 October

The city of Kraków's official site (page dated 16 October 2026) says the festival runs from 19 to 25 October. The main program includes meetings with writers such as Olga Tokarczuk, Nathacha Appanah, Szczepan Twardoch, Juan Gabriel Vásquez, Jacek Dukaj and Becca Rothfeld. The theme is disobedience. The city also lists talks in small bookshops, a literary walk in Nowa Huta, workshops, and programs for children aged 3 to 12 and for teenagers. A film strip with the Kino Pod Baranami cinema near the Main Square runs from 19 to 23 October and includes Ozon's "The Stranger" (2025) and "Return to Reims" (2024).

Many talks are held in Polish. The page we read does not say which events are translated, which are free, or how to buy tickets. Check the festival's own site for that. The page also notes the Kraków International Book Fair as a partner of the festival, without giving dates.

Kraków: 13th Kraków Autumn Music festival, until 22 October

Kraków's official site (page dated 19 October 2026) says the festival opened on 16 October and holds four evenings at the Karol Szymanowski Philharmonic. Dates in the week:

  • 19 October: cellist Silvia Chiesa and pianist Maurizio Baglini, with works by Mendelssohn, Liszt, Busoni and Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue in a cello and piano arrangement.
  • 20 October: opera, musical and popular repertoire, including arias by Handel, Puccini, Gounod and Verdi and songs from "Cats" and "West Side Story".
  • 21 October: violin and piano, with Brahms, Wieniawski and Szymanowski.
  • 22 October: violin and accordion duo, ending with the premiere of a piece by Maciej Zimka.

Tickets are sold at the Philharmonic box office and on its website, according to the city. Prices are not given.

What it means for expats

Music events need little Polish. Literature talks and comedy mostly do. If you want to go to the Conrad Festival, look for the foreign guests and ask the organisers whether interpreting is offered. For food halls and free concerts, expect crowds on Friday and Saturday nights.

What the sources do not say

The pages do not give ticket prices, venue capacity, language support or accessibility details, and we did not verify them. We did not check other cities this week.
