Toruń Public Transport Tickets and Prices (MZK) 2026
Short answer: Toruń's tariff in force from 1 April 2025 lists a normal 60-minute ticket at PLN 5.00 on paper, 4.60 electronic, 4.20 with a resident City Card. Check the current table before buying.

Toruń runs its city buses and trams through the municipal transport company MZK Toruń, and the prices are set by an ordinance of the city president. This guide covers what a ticket costs, how the cheaper resident price works, where to buy and a few rules that catch newcomers out. Prices below are the ones the city and MZK published for the tariff in force from 1 April 2025. As of 17 October 2026 the city's BIP page still lists that ordinance as in force, but check the current price list before you buy a long-term ticket, because the city can change it.
The official tariff
The legal basis is Ordinance No. 78 of the President of the City of Toruń of 20 March 2025, effective 1 April 2025. The BIP page lists it as amended by Ordinance 106/2025. The city publishes the price tables as images on its page "Opłaty za przejazdy", so the figures below come from the MZK announcement of 1 April 2025 and the city's news item of 10 April 2025.
Tickets come in groups: time tickets (60 and 90 minutes), short-term tickets (day, family, weekend, week, group), and period tickets (monthly, three-month and semester) that are tied to a person or carried by the bearer.
Single tickets: three prices
For a normal 60-minute ticket, the city's news item of 10 April 2025 gives three levels:
- PLN 4.20 for a holder of the City Card with resident, pupil or student status.
- PLN 4.60 for a holder of the City Card or an electronic ticket without that status.
- PLN 5.00 for a paper ticket.
The reduced ticket costs half of the normal one. For the resident-status electronic tariff, MZK lists a 90-minute normal ticket at PLN 7.20 (reduced PLN 3.60), a day ticket for zones I and II at PLN 14.00 (reduced PLN 7.00), a family ticket in zone I at PLN 11.00, a weekend ticket in zone I at PLN 16.00, a week ticket for zones I and II at PLN 46.00 (reduced PLN 23.00) and a group ticket in zone I at PLN 48.00.
Monthly tickets
Again for the electronic City Card with resident status, MZK published these monthly prices on 1 April 2025:
- All tram lines, zone I: PLN 81 (reduced PLN 40.50).
- One bus line, zone I: PLN 82 (reduced PLN 41.00).
- All bus and tram lines, zone I: PLN 98 (reduced PLN 49.00).
- One bus line, zones I and II: PLN 113 (reduced PLN 56.50).
- All bus and tram lines, zones I and II: PLN 145 (reduced PLN 72.50).
The same announcement lists three-month tickets, for example PLN 245 for all lines in zone I, and semester tickets, for example PLN 196 for all lines in zone I. Prices for people without the resident status are higher, and the city only shows them as an image, so check the table before you buy.
What the zones mean
According to the city, zone I is the territory of the City of Toruń. Zone II covers the neighbouring municipalities that have agreements with the city on public transport. If you hold a ticket valid in one zone, you must validate the ticket for the other zone at the latest when you pass the border stop.
Monthly tickets are valid on every day of the month. You can buy one for the next 30 days regardless of the calendar month, or for a calendar month. A three-month ticket runs either from the first to the last day of three months or for 91 days if it starts on another day.
The Toruń City Card and the resident status
The City Card "JO" is the electronic carrier for tickets. According to the MZK, a ticket is assigned to one carrier that you choose: a virtual card in the app, a bank card with EMV, or a Mifare card or electronic student ID. A ticket cannot be linked to several carriers at once, and during a check you show the carrier that holds the ticket. The cheaper resident price applies to a City Card with the Status of a Toruń Resident. The sources reviewed do not explain the registration requirements, so ask MZK or the City Hall which documents they accept before you plan around it.
Monthly tickets bought by mobile payment, and those loaded on a personalised card without a photo, are valid together with an identity document.
Where to buy
The city lists these ways to buy tickets:
- Paper tickets at MZK ticket offices, in 102 ticket machines on MZK vehicles and in stationary ticket machines.
- Electronic tickets in the JO-TORUŃ app, on the jo-torun.pl portal (period tickets only), in vehicle terminals and mobile ticket machines up to PLN 100, in stationary machines without a limit, in other apps that sell Toruń tickets, and at ticket offices.
Ticket office hours changed from 19 January 2026, according to the city's notice of 7 January 2026, so check the hours before you go.

Rules newcomers miss
Luggage travels free, except a bicycle. For a bicycle the tariff requires twice the price of a normal ticket for one person on that line. Animals other than small ones held on the lap also need a ticket at the price of a normal ticket on that line.
If you travel by train between Bydgoszcz and Toruń, the city says that BiT City tickets issued by the rail carrier with the note about Toruń city transport are valid in zones I and II for 60 minutes from the time on the ticket. The regional WiT tickets are covered in the same section of the tariff.
