Wałbrzych public transport 2026: ticket prices, apps, card payment
Short answer: In Wałbrzych a 30-minute ticket costs 4.40 zł, a 60-minute 5.60 zł and a 30-day ticket 130 zł. You can pay by contactless card on the bus or in apps.

The city buses in Wałbrzych are run by the municipal company MZUK (Miejski Zakład Usług Komunalnych). This guide uses the MZUK "Bilety i ceny" page and its FAQ, both read on 18 October 2026. Neither page shows a publication date, so the prices are the ones shown on the operator's site on that day.

Ticket prices
The MZUK price list has four ticket types. Reduced prices are exactly half of the normal ones.
* 30-minute ticket, valid 30 minutes from validation on all lines: 4.40 zł normal, 2.20 zł reduced. * 60-minute ticket, valid 60 minutes from validation and allowing transfers: 5.60 zł normal, 2.80 zł reduced. * 24-hour ticket, valid 24 hours from validation: 20.00 zł normal, 10.00 zł reduced. * 30-day ticket, personal, valid every day and requiring an E-Karta: 130.00 zł normal, 65.00 zł reduced.
The price page does not list who qualifies for the reduced fare or for free rides. Ask MZUK before you rely on a discount, and check the regulations (regulamin przewozów) that MZUK publishes in the documents section of its site.
Where to buy a ticket
According to the MZUK FAQ, you can buy a ticket in four ways:
* At the MZUK ticket office at Plac Grunwaldzki 1. The price page gives the hours as Monday to Friday 6:30 to 19:30, with short breaks at 10:00 to 10:20 and 16:00 to 16:20, and Saturday 10:00 to 14:00. * At sales points around the city. The page lists shops and newsagents, for example on ul. Armii Krajowej, ul. Słowackiego, ul. 1 Maja and ul. Broniewskiego, plus points in Szczawno-Zdrój and Jedlina-Zdrój. * In the bus, at the validator, with a contactless Visa or Mastercard card. A ticket bought there is already validated and you do not get a paper printout. * In mobile apps: the FAQ names moBilet, SkyCash and zBiletem.
The pages do not mention paying cash to the driver. Because every vehicle has a card terminal, carry a card or an app if you do not have a ticket from a sales point.
The 30-day ticket and the E-Karta
The monthly ticket is personal and needs the E-Karta, the city's electronic card. The MZUK pages do not explain how to get the card, how much it costs or which documents are needed, so ask at the ticket office. This is a point where a newcomer needs to check the rules in person.
Timetables and changes
Timetables are on the passenger portal rozklad.walbrzych.eu, in the mobileMPK app for Android and iOS, and on electronic information boards at the main stops. A local news site, WałbrzychInfo, wrote on 23 December 2025, citing a Facebook page, that from 1 January 2026 route changes would apply. It reported that line 5 of the neighbouring municipality of Walim would be suspended, that line 11 would no longer serve Stary and Nowy Julianów, and that a new line 52 would link Głuszyca and Jedlina-Zdrój. That is secondary reporting, so check current routes in the timetable.
Hydrogen buses
The FAQ says MZUK has 20 Solaris Urbino 12 hydrogen buses. According to MZUK, they emit only water and are equipped with air conditioning, free WiFi, USB ports and a passenger information system. The page gives no date for that fleet size.
Who to contact
The public transport department is at Plac Grunwaldzki 1. The phone number on the FAQ is 690 654 133 and the email is [email protected]. It works Monday to Friday 7:00 to 17:00 and Saturday 8:00 to 14:00. The MZUK pages do not address foreign residents separately, so ask in English or Polish by email if you have a question about documents.
