The underground railway station at Warsaw Chopin Airport

Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW) is connected to the city centre by city buses, two Fast Urban Railway (SKM) lines and a Koleje Mazowieckie train, and all of them run on ordinary city tickets. This guide sets out the options for getting from the airport to the centre, which ticket to buy, where the stops are, and what to know about taxis and the other Warsaw airport at Modlin. It reflects the Warsaw Public Transport (WTP) airport page and the airport's own "To and from the airport" page, as read on 15 October 2026.

The short version

The airport says travel to the CENTRUM stop takes about 30 minutes and recommends buying at least a 75-minute ticket. WTP lists a 75-minute ticket valid in zone 1 for the airport lines to the centre. WTP's price list showed a 75-minute normal ticket at 4.40 zł on 13 October 2026, as covered in our Warsaw public transport tickets guide. Check the live price list before you travel.

By train: SKM and Koleje Mazowieckie

There is an underground railway station near the terminal, called Warszawa Lotnisko Chopina. The airport lists these train lines from it:

  • S2 (SKM): to Sulejówek Miłosna, via Warszawa Zachodnia, Warszawa Śródmieście and Warszawa Wschodnia, on a 75-minute ticket per WTP.
  • S3 (SKM): to Radzymin, Wieliszew or Legionowo Piaski, via Warszawa Zachodnia, Warszawa Centralna and Warszawa Wschodnia, on a 75-minute ticket per WTP.
  • RL (Koleje Mazowieckie): to Modlin, via Warszawa Zachodnia, Warszawa Centralna, Warszawa Wschodnia and Legionowo.

The airport says the stations Warszawa Centralna, Wschodnia, Zachodnia and Śródmieście offer easy transfers to destinations across Poland. SKM trains in Warsaw use the ZTM ticket system, so you need a regular public transport ticket, the same as for trams, buses or the metro.

WTP also notes that a 20-minute ticket (zones 1 and 2) allows travel on the RL airport line between Warszawa Płudy and the airport in both directions.

By bus

WTP and the airport list these bus lines:

  • 175 to the centre: to Plac Piłsudskiego, via the Warszawa Centralna and Warszawa Śródmieście stations and the Centrum metro station. It runs daily.
  • N32, the night line: to the Central Station (Dworzec Centralny), which WTP calls the interchange point for night services.
  • 148: to Praga-Południe via Mokotów and Ursynów (Imielin metro station). Daily.
  • 188: to Praga-Południe via Trasa Łazienkowska (Politechnika metro station). Daily.
  • 331: to Mokotów (Wilanowska metro station). It runs only on working days at peak hours.

Where to buy a ticket

WTP says city tickets at the airport can be bought:

  • In ticket machines at bus stops and at the entrance to the railway station.
  • In ticket machines in SKM trains and buses.
  • In the mobile app.

Where the stops are

Departing from the airport, use the stop "Lotnisko Chopina – Przyloty 02" on the lower terminal level, or the stop "Terminal Autokarowy 02". WTP says boarding buses on the upper level by the departures hall to leave the airport is not allowed.

Going to the airport, buses call at "Lotnisko Chopina – Odloty 01" on the upper level, or the terminus "Terminal Autokarowy 01".

Taxi and ride-hailing

The airport advises using licensed taxi services for safety, with the tariff clearly displayed in the car window. It gives the taxi fare from the airport to the city centre as approximately 50 PLN. Uber self-service kiosks (Tap to Ride) are in the baggage reclaim hall and the arrivals hall. iTaxi and Bolt are listed as app options.

Coaches

A bus and coach terminal is located in front of the south pier on the arrivals level, near the exit from the railway station. The airport says it has 21 stands, and stands 1 to 16 are for scheduled connections. Operators listed include FlixBus, Ecolines-Polska and several regional carriers.

Warsaw Modlin airport

Modlin (WMI) is about 40 km north of the centre. WTP says it does not serve Modlin. You get there by Koleje Mazowieckie trains to Modlin station or by direct shuttle buses.

Practical tips

  • Buy at least a 75-minute ticket, as the airport recommends.
  • At night, use N32 to the Central Station.
  • For a flight, allow extra time for the walk to the underground station.
