MZK Zielona Góra Ursus city bus

City buses in Zielona Góra are run by Miejski Zakład Komunikacji (MZK). This guide uses the price pages on the MZK website for zones A, B and A+B. The pages carry no date, so check them before you buy a pass. The tariff itself is set by a city council resolution, and a resolution of 30 June 2026 (XXXIII.501.2026) changed the list of people entitled to reduced fares. All prices are in zloty.

Three ticket zones

Zone A covers the city of Zielona Góra. Zone B applies outside the city, on trips within the suburban village area in the Zabór municipality. Zone A+B covers journeys from Zielona Góra to places in the Zabór municipality and back.

Zone A prices

A paper single ticket costs 3 zł normal and 1.50 zł reduced, and allows changes within 60 minutes of validation. A 24-hour paper ticket costs 12 zł (6 zł reduced).

MZK also runs an electronic purse (elektroniczna portmonetka) on its e-card. You tap the card on a reader when you board and tap again when you get off, and the fare depends on the number of stops. A short trip of up to 2 stops is 1 zł. A trip of 3 to 8 stops is 2.60 zł normal and 1.30 zł reduced. Beyond 8 stops each extra stop adds 4 groszy (2 groszy reduced), up to a maximum of 3 zł (1.50 zł reduced). The site warns that if you do not register your exit, you are charged as for a ride to the end of the bus route. One change within the city zone within 20 minutes is allowed on an electronic single ticket, counted from the exit tap on the first bus to the entry tap on the second.

Zone A passes

All passes below are loaded on the e-card and named, except the bearer pass.

  • 30-ride named 30-day ticket: 60 zł (30 zł reduced)
  • 90-ride named 30-day ticket: 76 zł (38 zł reduced)
  • Unlimited named 30-day ticket, also available as a mobile ticket: 90 zł (45 zł reduced)
  • Unlimited named 90-day ticket: 260 zł (130 zł reduced)
  • Unlimited 30-day bearer ticket, which anyone can use: 200 zł, with no reduced version
  • Student ticket valid for one semester: 170 zł, with the first semester running from 1 October to 15 February and the second from 16 February to 30 June

A ride-limited ticket expires when you use up the rides or when the validity period ends, whichever comes first. All ticket types work on night lines at the same prices and with the same discounts as on day lines.

Zone B and zone A+B

In zone B, a paper single ticket is 3.40 zł (1.70 zł reduced). On the electronic purse, 2 stops cost 1.30 zł, 3 to 8 stops cost 3.20 zł (1.60 zł reduced), and each stop after the eighth adds 4 groszy, up to 3.40 zł. A named 30-day zone B pass with 30 rides is 64 zł, with 50 rides 76 zł, with 80 rides 84 zł, and with no limit 114 zł, all at half price for reduced fares.

In zone A+B, a paper single ticket is 4.40 zł (2.20 zł reduced). Electronic prices run from 2 zł for a short trip to 4 zł for 3 to 8 stops. Named 30-day tickets cost 130 zł without a change in the city zone, and 140, 160 or 180 zł with a change and 45 rides, 90 rides or no limit. The reduced price is half of these. The semester student ticket in this zone is 320 zł.

Who pays the reduced fare

The July 2026 resolution adds veterans and injured veterans to the list of people entitled to reduced fares. They need a valid e-card issued by MZK, based on a valid veteran's or injured veteran's card issued under the veterans' act of 19 August 2011. The MZK site also offers a concession finder for the e-card. The pages used here do not describe the other categories in detail, and they say nothing about foreign residents or students from abroad, so ask MZK what documents they accept before you apply.

Practical tips

Get an e-card if you plan to use the bus more than occasionally. It is needed for the electronic purse and for all the electronic passes, and paper tickets are the only option without it. Always tap the card when you leave a bus if you use the electronic purse. For complaints, MZK gives the phone number 68 45 20 454 and the e-mail address [email protected]. This article does not cover fines for travelling without a ticket, because the page we found for additional fees did not show them.
