Adult Vaccines at Polish Pharmacies in 2026: List and Costs
Short answer: Adults 18+ can be vaccinated at pharmacies with an NFZ contract. NFZ pays the 33.37 zł service fee; the vaccine is free, partly reimbursed or paid depending on type and age.

Since 1 February 2026, adults in Poland can get many more vaccinations at a pharmacy (apteka), and the National Health Fund (NFZ) pays for the pharmacist's service. This guide explains which vaccines are on the list, what you pay for the vaccine itself, and which ones are free for older people. Facts are as of 15 October 2026, from NFZ, the Chief Sanitary Inspectorate (GIS) and the National Institute of Public Health (PZH).
What changed in February 2026
The Ministry of Health published a notice on 23 December 2025, which entered into force on 1 February 2026. It extended the list of vaccinations that can be given in a pharmacy under an NFZ contract and financed in whole or in part from public funds. The GIS says that, until then, pharmacies could already vaccinate adults against COVID-19, influenza, tick-borne encephalitis, diphtheria, tetanus and hepatitis A and B. The NFZ says that from 1 February 2026 adults can be vaccinated against 18 diseases at pharmacies.

The list of vaccines
According to the NFZ, adults (18+) can get these vaccinations in a pharmacy that has an NFZ contract:
- New from 1 February 2026: chickenpox, typhoid, diphtheria and tetanus (combined), diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough and polio (combined), meningococcus type B, meningococcus ACWY, yellow fever.
- Already available: COVID-19, influenza (seasonal), tick-borne encephalitis, diphtheria, tetanus and whooping cough, HPV, pneumococcus, shingles, measles, mumps and rubella, polio, hepatitis A and B, and RSV.
Children and teenagers are vaccinated in primary care clinics (POZ). The same adult vaccinations can also be done at your POZ clinic, says the NFZ.
What you pay
The NFZ says it fully pays for the qualification and administration of the vaccine by the pharmacist (33.37 zł), so you do not pay for the service. The vaccine itself is free, partly reimbursed (for example 50%) or fully paid by you, depending on the vaccine and your age. The level of payment follows Ministry of Health rules, and the doctor or pharmacist who issues the prescription decides the final level.
How to get one
- You normally need a prescription, issued by a doctor or by a pharmacist. For COVID-19 an e-referral from the Internet Patient Account (IKP) is enough, with no extra prescription.
- You collect the vaccine and have it administered at the pharmacy.
The GIS notes that routine vaccinations in Poland are compulsory and free until age 19, while adult vaccinations are in the "recommended" category and are generally paid, with exceptions listed below. See our guide to the IKP account for how to log in.
Which adult vaccines are free or reimbursed
The PZH page updated on 1 September 2026 says the list of reimbursed vaccines is unchanged by the notice valid from 1 October 2026. It lists 8 reimbursed vaccines: 3 influenza, 1 pneumococcal, 1 HPV, 1 shingles and 2 RSV. Examples from the official pages:
- Influenza: free for children from 6 months to 18, pregnant women and people over 65. 50% reimbursed for ages 18 to 64, according to GIS and the Ministry of Health. See our flu vaccine guide.
- Pneumococcus: free for people aged 65 and older with increased risk of pneumococcal disease, for example chronic heart, liver, lung or kidney disease, diabetes or weakened immunity. The GIS gives the full list of conditions.
- Shingles: for people aged 65+ at increased risk, 100% reimbursement with a prescription carrying code "S". For people 18+ at increased risk, 50%.
- RSV: for pregnant women, as protection for infants (free, with code "C"), for people 65+ (free, code "S") and for people aged 60 to 64 (50%, code "S"), according to PZH.
- HPV: see our HPV vaccine article for ages and dates.
Other vaccines, such as typhoid, yellow fever or meningococcal, are on the pharmacy list, but the sources do not describe reimbursement for them. Ask the pharmacist or doctor what you will pay.
Tips
1. Ask your GP at the start of the season whether you qualify for a free vaccine. 2. Find a participating pharmacy. The NFZ says the vaccination must be done at a pharmacy with an NFZ contract. 3. If you travel, ask about yellow fever or typhoid well in advance.
