Warsaw Free November 2026: Royal Castle and Wilanów Tickets

The essentials: Warsaw’s Royal Castle and Wilanów offer selected free visits in November 2026, but tickets and schedules differ. Castle tickets are released three days ahead at 10:00; Wilanów palace tickets are released weekly. Both have limited allocations.

Warsaw's Royal Castle and Wilanów Palace have published their Free November 2026 programmes, with free entry to selected interiors and gardens. For residents looking for an inexpensive autumn outing, the useful detail is not simply that admission is free. Each museum has its own ticket release calendar, opening days and limits. Turning up without checking those differences could mean missing the rooms you came to see.

The Royal Castle releases online admission tickets three days ahead at 10:00. Wilanów releases its palace tickets in weekly batches, with the first batch already available from 26 October. Neither system guarantees a place simply because the visit is free. Here is how to plan a visit using the museums' published 2026 rules, rather than last year's timetable.

Royal Castle: a special free route, not an unlimited pass

The Royal Castle's special free route opens Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00-17:00, with last admission at 16:00. The castle is closed on Sunday, 1 November 2026, but explicitly confirms that it will open on Wednesday, 11 November, Poland's Independence Day.

The route includes the Matejko Rooms, Senators' Chamber, Royal Clockmakers' Room, Great and Royal Apartments, and the Lanckoroński Gallery. The temporary exhibition "Gisleni. A Roman architect in Poland" is included. From 5 November, the route also includes "Państwo na Zamku. Rezydencja 1926-1939", the exhibition about the castle as a state residence in the interwar period.

That makes the offer more useful than an exterior-only visit, but it is still a defined route. The castle says the usual admission rules continue to apply to exhibitions and events outside the campaign. Do not read "Free November" as permission to enter every exhibition, join any tour or collect an audio guide without paying.

Audio guides cost 10 zł per person under the programme's published terms. If the aim is a completely free visit, check what you are adding before completing any booking. An optional paid extra does not make the admission offer misleading, but it does change the cost of your own outing.

How Royal Castle tickets work

There are two routes to the free admission ticket. Online tickets are released at 10:00 three days before the date of the visit, through the castle's ticket site linked from its official programme. A person can collect tickets for up to five people. That limit matters for larger families or friends planning to visit together.

The castle also offers tickets at its ticket offices on the day, from 10:00 to 16:00, until the allocation runs out. A same-day ticket office option is therefore a fallback, not a promise that tickets will remain available when you arrive. The admission window also does not extend the last-entry time.

Keep the booking confirmation somewhere you can open at the entrance and check which route and date it names. When helping friends book, ask everyone to confirm the date first. A free ticket for the wrong day is still the wrong ticket, and the programme does not say that any unused reservation automatically transfers to another visit.

The Copper-Roof Palace, or Pałac pod Blachą, has a different weekly schedule. Its free route, including Prince Józef Poniatowski's Apartment, is available on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, 10:00-17:00, with last admission at 16:00. Do not assume a Tuesday castle visit also gives you a Tuesday visit there.

Castle workshops and tours use another booking window

Educational events have their own tickets. The castle says they become available at the ticket office and online two weeks before the event, with limited places. That is separate from the three-day release for ordinary exhibition admission.

The programme includes family activities, guided walks, lectures and meetings. Some early-November sessions were already marked sold out when the programme was checked. A listed event should therefore be treated as an invitation to check its booking page, not evidence that spaces are still available.

On 11 November, volunteer conversations about national symbols are included within exhibition visiting rather than requiring the normal separate event booking. For other events, check the individual entry. An English-language article about the programme does not mean the activity itself will be delivered in English. Confirm the language before reserving a workshop for a child or someone who does not understand Polish.

There is also a specific access warning for the themed walks on 21-22 November. The castle says the architecture may make those routes difficult or impossible for wheelchair users, people with limited mobility and parents with pushchairs. Ask about the exact route before booking rather than assuming the general museum entrance arrangements apply to every special walk.

Wilanów: free palace and garden visits from 2 November

Wilanów's published campaign dates are 2-30 November 2026. The palace opens 10:00-16:00, with last admission at 15:00, except on Tuesdays. The park and historic gardens open 9:00-16:00, with last admission at 15:30. The programme also states that the site is closed on 1 November.

The practical distinction is between the palace and the grounds. A Tuesday can work for a garden outing during the campaign, but it is not a palace-interior day. If the royal rooms are your main reason for going, choose another day and secure the appropriate palace ticket.

Free palace admission includes the ground-floor Royal Apartments and the upstairs temporary exhibition "Sobiescy i Stuartowie. Blask i widmo korony", about the Sobieski and Stuart families. The museum also offers free access to the park and historic gardens under the campaign's ticket arrangements.

Palace capacity is limited. The museum explicitly says tickets are allocated in order of requests. Pick the interior visit first, then arrange the rest of the day around the confirmed date and time. It is easier than promising children or visiting relatives a particular room before knowing whether you have admission.

Wilanów's weekly online ticket calendar

The palace's online release calendar is published in four batches:

  • Visits on 2-8 November: tickets available from 26 October 2026.
  • Visits on 9-15 November: tickets available from 2 November 2026.
  • Visits on 16-22 November: tickets available from 9 November 2026.
  • Visits on 23-30 November: tickets available from 16 November 2026.

The museum does not give a release hour in this programme. The Royal Castle's 10:00 rule should not be copied across to Wilanów. Use the museum's official ticket links and read the current booking screen for the visit you want.

Same-day free tickets are also available at the museum ticket office, which welcomes visitors from 9:00. Again, numbers are limited. A weekly batch being released does not mean every date in that week still has spaces, and a ticket office opening at 9:00 does not mean palace rooms open before 10:00.

Before travelling, distinguish your palace ticket from the garden entry arrangements. Read the booking confirmation rather than assuming that one label covers every part of the museum or every activity advertised that month.

A useful choice for families, without overbooking the day

Choose the Royal Castle if the special castle route is the part you most want to see. Choose Wilanów if you want to combine its palace rooms with time in the gardens, subject to the weather and the published closing times. These are planning choices, not claims that one museum is objectively better.

For a family visit, a confirmed interior slot and one optional extra is a reasonable starting point. Keep the garden walk, a meal or another stop flexible. Free admission can reduce the ticket cost without removing the need to budget for transport, food or any optional paid service.

The Wilanów programme includes educational activities for schools, families and adults. It also announces a special 28-29 November weekend with traditional crafts and Christmas preparations, accompanied by activities and performances. Check individual listings for the exact timetable, booking requirement and audience before making it the anchor of your day.

For more ideas, see our Warsaw guides. If the November dates do not suit, our article archive provides other city and practical guides. The key is to use the current museum programme for admission, not assume that another free-museum day or an older guide has the same rules.

Before leaving home

Open the official programme again and check four things: the museum is open that day, you have the right ticket, your arrival fits the last-entry time, and any special event has its own reservation. For a guided activity, add the language and access arrangements to that list.

These programmes were checked on 30 October 2026, Warsaw time. Ticket availability can change after a guide is published. The official Royal Castle and Wilanów pages linked below remain the place to check the current allocation and any amended arrangements.
