Free public transport on 1 November 2026: which Polish cities
Short answer: There is no national rule. Łódź confirmed free rides on 1 November 2026 in zones 1 and 2. Other cities such as Poznań, GZM, Bydgoszcz and Toruń are reported to have it too. Check your operator.

On 1 November, All Saints' Day, millions of people in Poland visit cemeteries. Some cities make public transport free that day. There is no national rule, so it depends on the city. This page collects what could be checked on 19 October 2026. Check the local operator's notice before you travel.
Łódź: confirmed for 2026 and every year after
The Łódź transport company MPK-Łódź posted a notice on 8 October 2026. It says that under resolution no. XXXV/1050/26 of the City Council of 16 September 2026, rides on 1 November (each year) in zones 1 and 2 are free. This is an official source.
The business newspaper Dziennik Gazeta Prawna (GazetaPrawna.pl, 2 October 2026) adds that the exemption lasts the whole day, covers buses and trams, including lines that go outside Łódź, and applies to everyone, visitors included. In 2025 the city had made it a one-off decision. This detail comes from the newspaper, not from the MPK notice, which only names zones 1 and 2.
Other cities, as reported
The same GazetaPrawna article, with data as of 1 October 2026, lists cities where the exemption is already in the local rules. These are reported by the newspaper, and this page did not check each city's current tariff:
- Poznań: all passengers, all ZTM lines and all zones, under the tariff in force since 1 September 2025.
- Radom: 1 November is listed as a free day in the current list of entitlements.
- Toruń: free from 5:00 to 23:00, with no document needed.
- Bydgoszcz: free on 1 November in the years 2024 to 2029, so also in 2026.
- Białystok: free on 1 November every year, but not on 2 November.
- Transport GZM (the Silesian metropolis): including Katowice, Gliwice, Sosnowiec, Bytom, Zabrze, Tychy and Chorzów, free on 1 November, not automatically on trains or on 2 November.
- Swarzędz: free on 1 November on the local bus service, but not on night lines.
For two of these there are official notices from last year. The Poznań transport authority ZTM wrote in October 2025 that on All Saints' Day travel by tram and bus on ZTM lines is free on all lines and in all zones, that you cannot buy a single ticket in smartphone apps that day, and that validators and PEKA readers will stay on for technical reasons. Transport GZM wrote on 27 October 2025 that all bus, tram and trolleybus rides would be free on 1 November, and that 18 special lines would run on 1 and 2 November. Those pages are from 2025, so they show how the rule worked then, not the 2026 plan.
What the free day usually does not cover
- 2 November (All Souls' Day) is not covered automatically. The reported rules name 1 November.
- Trains and private bus operators have their own tariffs.
- Extra bus lines and timetables are decided separately from the fare exemption.

What the sources do not say
This page has no official 2026 confirmation for cities other than Łódź. It does not cover Warsaw, Kraków, Wrocław, Gdańsk or other cities not named in the article. It also does not give special timetables. Check the notice from your own city's transport operator in the last week of October.
