Gdańsk's trams and buses are run by ZTM Gdańsk, and one ticket works on both. The prices below come from the current fare ordinance of the Mayor of Gdańsk (zarządzenie nr 1218/26 of 16 July 2026, with later amendments) and the official ZTM price pages, checked on 15 October 2026. Prices do change, so confirm them on the ZTM site before buying a long-term pass.

Single tickets: prices and how long they last

ZTM sells three types of one-off tickets, valid on all tram and bus lines:

  • Single-ride ticket: 4.80 zł full fare, 2.40 zł reduced. Valid for one ride in one vehicle, from validation until you get off. No transfers.
  • 75-minute ticket: 6.00 zł full fare, 3.00 zł reduced. Valid for 75 minutes from validation with unlimited transfers between trams and buses.
  • 24-hour ticket: 22 zł full fare, 11 zł reduced. Valid for 24 hours from validation, unlimited rides and transfers.

For most journeys across the city the 75-minute ticket is the practical choice. Paper tickets are validated in the machine on board; tickets with a QR code are scanned at the reader by the door. If you have older paper tickets with the 4.80 zł or 2.40 zł nominal, ZTM accepts them without surcharge as single-ride tickets only, and you can combine old tickets (for example 4.80 zł plus a 1.20 zł top-up ticket) to reach the current nominal of a more expensive ticket.

Monthly and longer passes

If you ride regularly, a monthly pass quickly beats single tickets. Prices from the current price list:

  • Personal monthly, Gdańsk only: 117 zł full fare, 58.50 zł reduced.
  • Bearer monthly (transferable), Gdańsk only: 180 zł, full fare only.
  • Personal monthly, one neighbouring gmina (Kolbudy, Pruszcz Gdański or Żukowo): 81 zł full, 40.50 zł reduced; bearer version 96 zł.
  • Personal monthly, wider area (Gdańsk plus Sopot, Kolbudy, Pruszcz Gdański and Żukowo): 140 zł full, 70 zł reduced; bearer version 200 zł.

There are also semester tickets for pupils (up to the end of the year they turn 24), students and pre-school children: a 4-month ticket for Gdańsk costs 222 zł and a 5-month ticket 278 zł; the wider-area versions cost 266 zł and 333 zł. Semester tickets are reduced-fare only and run for fixed calendar periods (for example 1 September to 31 January).

A monthly pass is valid from any day of the month to the same day of the next month, so you do not have to wait for the first of the month to buy one. If your pass covers only Gdańsk and your bus crosses the tariff boundary into a neighbouring gmina, you need a single ticket valid in that gmina for the rest of the ride; the boundary stops are marked "granica strefy" on stop timetables.

How to buy: paper, apps and tap-to-pay

You can buy paper tickets at kiosks and ticket machines and validate them on board. The electronic option is FALA, the city's mobility platform run by InnoBaltica: through the systemfala.pl portal, the System FALA app, or simply by tapping a contactless payment card (EMV) or a FALA card on the reader at the vehicle door. On-board "Falomat" touch screens also sell tickets. Monthly passes are electronic and are bought through the app or loaded onto a FALA card.

One caution: a ticket bought or validated after an inspection has started is treated as invalid. Buy or activate before the inspectors reach you, and keep the ticket until you leave the vehicle. A screenshot or a photo of a ticket does not count as a ticket.

Reduced fares and free rides

The reduced fare is 50 percent of the full fare. The official entitlement list includes, among others: pupils of primary and secondary schools (with a school ID), students of Polish universities of any age (with a student ID), students of foreign universities up to 26 with an ISIC card, doctoral students, and pensioners whose entitlement was granted by a Polish pension authority. Carry the document that proves your entitlement; riding with a reduced ticket you cannot prove is fined almost like riding with no ticket at all.

Free rides apply to a long list of groups, including children under 4, people over 70, holders of a first-degree Honorary Blood Donor ID, and members of parliament. Two groups matter most for residents:

  • Children and students with the Gdańsk Resident Card (Gdańska Karta Mieszkańca): children aged 4 to 7 and pupils of primary and secondary schools up to the age of 24 ride free if they hold the card or the "Jestem z Gdańska" app with a photo and the verified free-travel package (Pakiet Bezpłatnych Przejazdów) plus the resident package for the current year.
  • Large families: members of the Duża Gdańska Rodzina programme ride free with the same card setup.

Hand luggage, a wheelchair, a child's pram, a bicycle and animals travel free of charge on ZTM services.

The bonus: your pass also works on trains

With a personalised Gdańsk Resident Card (or the "Jestem z Gdańska" app) holding a valid personal monthly or semester ZTM ticket for Gdańsk, you ride SKM and PKM/POLREGIO trains inside Gdańsk for free. The SKM section covered runs from Śródmieście through Gdańsk Główny, Stocznia, Politechnika, Wrzeszcz, Zaspa, Przymorze and Oliwa to Żabianka-AWFiS; POLREGIO suburban trains are covered from Gdańsk Lipce to Oliwa, and the PKM line from Wrzeszcz to Osowa and Kokoszki, which includes the Gdańsk Port Lotniczy airport stop. The benefit does not apply to transferable bearer tickets or metropolitan tickets, and on the train you must show the card or app with the valid pass.

What it costs to ride without a ticket

Ticket inspections are regular. The additional charge (opłata dodatkowa) is set in the same fare ordinance:

  • No ticket or invalid ticket: 210 zł if paid within 7 days, 300 zł after that.
  • No document proving a free or reduced entitlement: 168 zł within 7 days, otherwise 240 zł.
  • Prohibited items or animals carried without the required conditions: 84 zł within 7 days, otherwise 120 zł.

If you simply forgot your valid personal season ticket or entitlement document, you can show it at the inspection authority within 7 days and pay a handling fee of 30 zł (24 zł for an entitlement document) instead of the full charge.
