Wrocław Zoo and Afrykarium: Family Guide, Prices and Hours
The essentials: Wrocław Zoo opens every day of the year. Online tickets start from 69 zł normal and 59 zł reduced (the gate costs about 30 zł more), children under three and seniors over 75 enter free, and every ticket includes the Afrykarium. Families: the 2+2 ticket starts from 225 zł online, the Zoo plus Hydropolis combo is 380 zł.

Poland's oldest zoo, anchored by the Afrykarium
Wrocław Zoo is the oldest and largest zoo in Poland, with more than 160 years of history on its site on Wróblewskiego Street across the Odra from the cathedral island. For a family it is a full day out, and the anchor of that day is the Afrykarium: a purpose-built oceanarium devoted to the waters of Africa that the zoo itself describes as the most ambitious investment in its 160-year history. The important ticketing fact, confirmed on the official price list as of 23 October 2026, is that every admission ticket to the zoo includes the Afrykarium - there is no separate oceanarium charge.
This guide covers the practical core: what tickets cost, when the gates open, what the Afrykarium route actually contains, and the honest ways to pay less, including a little-known city scheme that gets registered Wrocław taxpayers in free once a year. It pairs naturally with our Wrocław indoor sights guide, which covers the combined Zoo plus Hydropolis ticket from the Hydropolis side. All prices and hours were verified on the zoo's official pages on 23 October 2026.

Tickets: buy online, and ignore the fake sites
As of the official price list checked on 23 October 2026, a one-day ticket bought online starts from 69 zł normal and 59 zł reduced. The reduced rate covers children from their third birthday, school pupils under 21, students under 26, pensioners and several other documented groups. The same tickets at the gate cost 99 to 101 zł and 89 to 91 zł, so buying online is the largest single saving available - around 30 zł per person. Prices are quoted with "from" because the zoo adjusts them by date; a donation-inclusive "Zoo na Ratunek" variant runs about 2 zł higher. Family tickets start online from 225 zł for two adults with up to two children and from 235 zł for two adults with up to three, against 329 to 359 zł at the gate. Children under three and seniors over 75 do not need a ticket at all: they collect a free entry coupon at the ticket office on the day.
One warning the zoo itself publishes prominently: fake ticket websites impersonating the official Wrocław Zoo sale have appeared online, and payments made there buy nothing while exposing your bank account. Buy only through the zoo's official site or at the on-site ticket offices, machines and customer service point.

Hours: open every day of the year
The zoo opens 365 days a year, holidays included, but the day length changes sharply with the season, and the moving parts close in sequence: ticket offices first, then the animal pavilions, then the grounds and Afrykarium last. As of the official hours page checked on 23 October 2026, in late October the ticket offices run Monday to Thursday 9:00-16:00 and Friday to Sunday and holidays 9:00-17:00, pavilions close 45 minutes after the offices, and the grounds with the Afrykarium stay open until 17:00 on weekdays and 18:00 at weekends.
From November to December the whole site runs a short winter day: ticket offices and pavilions 9:00-15:00 and 9:00-15:45 respectively, with the grounds and Afrykarium closing at 16:00 every day, including 25 and 26 December; on 24 and 31 December the grounds close at 14:00. The practical rule for a winter visit: arrive near opening, do the outdoor enclosures in the light, and keep the Afrykarium for the dark late afternoon - but enter it before the pavilions close, not at the grounds' closing time.

The Afrykarium route
The Afrykarium is laid out as a single walking route of several hours that follows Africa's waters from north to south. It opens with the Red Sea - desert tortoises, then the colours of a coral reef - and moves into East Africa: Nile hippos, naked mole-rats, dik-diks (among the smallest antelopes in the world) and the endemic fish of lakes Malawi and Tanganyika, with birds flying overhead and hippos below a waterfall. The centrepiece is the Mozambique Channel: an acrylic underwater tunnel where sharks, rays and a green sea turtle swim around and above you. Beyond it, the Skeleton Coast section has Cape penguins and African fur seals, and the route ends in the Congo jungle, with Nile crocodiles and the manatees that have become the building's emblem.
The zoo also runs overnight stays inside the Mozambique Channel tunnel - sleeping among the sharks and rays, as its own page puts it - as a separate bookable experience, alongside 45-to-60-minute educational classes in English at 40 zł per person for groups that reserve in advance on top of admission.

The honest ways to pay less
Beyond buying online, three official schemes cut the bill. First, the combined family tickets: Zoo plus Hydropolis at 380 zł and Zoo plus Aquapark Wrocław at 465 zł, each covering two adults with up to three children for a full day at both venues within thirty days of purchase - strong value if your Wrocław weekend includes Hydropolis or the Aquapark anyway. Second, the Zoo and Safari combined ticket (107 zł normal, 93 zł reduced, 339 zł family 2+2) adds the Safari Ride, a ten-minute augmented-reality drive across an African savannah on a moving platform. Third, the annual pass at 198 to 200 zł normal and 158 to 160 zł reduced pays for itself in three visits.
For Wrocław residents the best deal is the free Nasz Wrocław city app. An adult participant with active taxpayer status enters the zoo free once every 365 days - show the app and an ID with a PESEL number at the ticket office - and the same status unlocks discounted one-day tickets at 40 zł normal and 30 zł reduced (bought at the ticket office, up to five reduced child tickets per adult) plus discounts on annual passes. Separately, Thursdays bring a pensioner, disability and Wrocław Senior Card offer starting from 47 zł online, valid only on working days. Discounts do not stack.

Practical notes for the day
The zoo sits at Wróblewskiego 1-5 in the Śródmieście district, a short tram ride or a pleasant walk from the old town; our Wrocław transport ticket guide covers the fares, and drivers should check the paid parking rules. Organised groups of ten or more pay 70 to 80 zł per person with a free supervisor place per ten reduced tickets. In autumn and winter, plan backwards from the pavilion closing time rather than the grounds closing time, and expect the Afrykarium to be warm and humid whatever the weather outside - leave the heavy coats at the lockers near the entrance. All prices and hours above are the official figures as of 23 October 2026; the zoo adjusts its price list and "from" prices without notice.

Frequently asked questions
How much does Wrocław Zoo cost in 2026?
As of the official price list checked on 23 October 2026, online tickets start from 69 zł normal and 59 zł reduced (children from age three, pupils, students under 26, pensioners and others). At the ticket office the same tickets cost 99 to 101 zł and 89 to 91 zł respectively, so online purchase saves about 30 zł per person. Family tickets start online from 225 zł for two adults with up to two children and from 235 zł with up to three. Children under three and seniors over 75 enter free, and every ticket includes the Afrykarium.
Is the Afrykarium included in the Wrocław Zoo ticket?
Yes. As of October 2026 every zoo admission ticket covers the Afrykarium oceanarium at no extra charge. The Afrykarium keeps slightly shorter hours than the zoo grounds in autumn and winter - it closes with the pavilions, 45 to 75 minutes before the grounds - so visit it first on a short winter day rather than leaving it for the last hour.
How can Wrocław residents get into the zoo free?
Through the city's free Nasz Wrocław app: an adult participant with active taxpayer status can enter the zoo completely free once every 365 days by showing the app and an ID with a PESEL number at the ticket office on the day. The same status unlocks discounted one-day tickets (30 zł reduced, 40 zł normal, bought at the ticket office) and discounts on annual passes. The discount cannot be combined with other special offers.
