Bielsko-Biała has confirmed its All Saints 2026 plan - and the city at the foot of the Beskid mountains keeps its tradition: rides on 1 November 2026 are free, as they are every year, and this time four special cemetery lines converge on the Karpacka cemetery, the city's largest necropolis. The city announced the plan on 24 October; the new feature this year is a direct link from the Lipnik district.

If you live in Bielsko-Biała - home to a growing expat community thanks to its tech and manufacturing employers - here is the whole plan in one place.

Free rides on 1 November

On Sunday 1 November 2026 all public transport in Bielsko-Biała is free, continuing the city's standing practice. That puts Bielsko-Biała in the growing group of free-ride cities this year - alongside Poznań, Toruń, Łódź and the Silesian metropolis (see our free transport roundup). On every other day the normal fare applies - the city has a simple no-zone system (details in our Bielsko-Biała tickets guide).

The four cemetery lines: C1, C2, C3, C4

All four special lines terminate at Karpacka Cmentarz, the big municipal cemetery in the Kamienica district:

  • C1 - Osiedle Kopernika to Karpacka Cmentarz: runs on both Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November, every 30 minutes, from 8:53 to 20:50, through the city centre (Grunwaldzka, Wyspiańskiego, 3 Maja, Zamkowa, Partyzantów).
  • C2 - Warszawska Dworzec (the bus station) to Karpacka Cmentarz: 1 November only, every 15 minutes, 10:10-17:46, via 3 Maja and the centre. This is the line for anyone arriving from out of town.
  • C3 - Hałcnów Kościół to Karpacka Cmentarz: 1 November only, every 90 minutes, 7:35-20:48, linking the northern Hałcnów district via Lwowska and Żywiecka.
  • C4 - Lipnik Dolny to Karpacka Cmentarz: 1 November only, every 90 minutes, 8:13-20:03 - the new route this year, giving the eastern Lipnik district a direct cemetery link for the first time.

The design is easy to read: C1 is the two-day workhorse from the western estates, C2 the Sunday shuttle for arrivals, and C3/C4 the once-a-year direct rides from the outer districts. A note on the C3 and C4: at one bus every 90 minutes they are lifelines, not shuttles - check the exact departure before you set out, and treat the line 7 plus C1 combination as your fallback from the centre. All four lines drop you at the cemetery gate; the return buses leave from the same stop.

Line 7 and the joint 7.5-minute rhythm

Regular line 7 runs a special schedule on both 31 October and 1 November: Wapienica Dzwonkowa - Karbowa Hala Sportowa, skipping the Armii Krajowej Karbowa and Szyndzielnia stops, every 30 minutes from 8:00 to 21:00. Because line 7 also passes the Karpacka cemetery area, the city quotes combined frequencies on the Kamienica - city centre section:

  • Saturday 31 October: lines 7 + C1 together give a bus about every 15 minutes for most of the day.
  • Sunday 1 November: lines 7 + C1 + C2 together give a bus about every 7.5 minutes between 10:00 and 17:15 - the densest cemetery service the city runs all year.

Vehicle capacity is stepped up too: articulated buses take over some line 7 courses from Friday 30 October, all of lines 7 and C1 on 31 October, and on 1 November they cover lines 3, 4, 7, 10, 15, 23, C1 and C2, with 12-metre buses on lines 13, 17, 22, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 56, C3 and C4.

Why Bielsko-Biała goes free - and why it matters here

Bielsko-Biała is a city of about 170,000 people squeezed into a narrow valley between Beskid ridges. Its cemeteries sit on the hillsides and outer districts, the streets to them are steep and short on parking, and on 1 November nearly everyone in town is going the same way. Waiving fares is the city's simplest crowd-control tool: it removes the ticket queue at the validator, speeds up boarding at every stop, and gives families one less reason to take the car up a road that cannot take the traffic. The free day costs the city a fraction of what gridlock would - and for expats it makes 1 November the easiest day of the year to explore the whole network without thinking about tickets.

Coming to Bielsko-Biała for the weekend

If you are visiting from Katowice or Kraków, the train is the simple option: regional services run from Katowice in about an hour and from Kraków in under two, and the main station sits a short walk from the centre - and from the Warszawska Dworzec stop where the C2 leaves for the cemetery. Intercity buses stop at the same hub. Once in town, everything you need on 1 November is free anyway, so there is no ticket math to do. If you are making a longer stay of it, November is off-season for the Beskid trails - quiet paths, early dusk, and the first snow often already on Skrzyczne.

The Karpacka cemetery and the city's others

The municipal cemetery on Karpacka street in the Kamienica district is Bielsko-Biału's main necropolis and the destination of every C line - a large, terraced site against the hills with a landmark modern chapel. The city also keeps notable historic cemeteries: the Old Evangelical and New Evangelical cemeteries (reminders of the city's Protestant, German-speaking past as Bielitz) and the Jewish cemetery, all reachable on regular lines. The customs are the same as across Poland: tidy the grave, lay chrysanthemums, light a znicz, and expect the most atmospheric hour just after dusk - sunset on 1 November is around 16:15, and with the hills to the west the light goes early. One local touch worth knowing: the terraced layout at Karpacka means the candle glow rises up the hillside in tiers after dark - one of the most striking All Saints sights in southern Poland, and worth the short climb to the upper paths. Shops are closed on Sunday 1 November; buy candles and flowers by Saturday. Our All Saints' Day in Poland guide explains the tradition, and the Bielsko-Biała weekend guide covers the rest of the city, from the old town square to the Szyndzielnia cable car.

Practical notes for the day

  • Arriving by train or coach? The C2 leaves from Warszawska Dworzec, by the main bus station - one direct ride to the cemetery, free on 1 November.
  • From Lipnik, take the new C4. First year the district has a direct link; it runs only every 90 minutes, so time it.
  • Going up the hills, not to the cemetery? Note that line 7 skips Szyndzielnia (the cable-car stop) on 31 October and 1 November - check alternatives before a mountain hike.
  • Monday 2 November is a normal working day - standard schedules and fares, no cemetery lines.
  • Dress for the hillside. Karpacka is terraced and exposed; November evenings at the cemetery are cold, and the stone paths can be slick with leaves. Good shoes beat smart shoes.
  • Check the return time before you settle in. After the last C2 (17:46) the Sunday service thins out - line 7 runs until 21:00, and the C1 until about 20:50.
