Torun All Saints 2026: Free Rides and Cemetery Buses
The essentials: Torun has confirmed its All Saints 2026 plan: all MZK buses and trams are free on 1 November 5:00-23:00, with free Park and Ride. The special O-1 bus links the bus station with the Central Cemetery every 5-20 minutes, bus 18 adds extra courses, and cemetery street changes run 30 October to 2 November.

Toruń has published its complete All Saints 2026 plan - and it joins the group of Polish cities where the holiday itself is free. The transport operator MZK announced on 21 October that on Sunday 1 November 2026, between 5:00 and 23:00, every bus and tram in Toruń is free, with the city's two Park & Ride lots free as well. The road authority followed on 23 October with the street and parking changes around every major cemetery, in force from Friday 30 October at 18:00 until Monday 2 November at 15:00.
For a city whose medieval old town draws the tourist crowds, All Saints is the weekend that belongs to residents - and the plan is built around one place: the Centralny Cmentarz Komunalny, Toruń's main cemetery, on the city's northern edge.
Free rides and free parking on 1 November
Between 5:00 and 23:00 on 1 November 2026 you simply board - no ticket, no validation. The free window covers all MZK buses and trams. If you drive in from outside the city, the Park & Ride lots at Olimpijska 42 and Dziewulskiego 38 are free in the same hours, so the sensible play is to leave the car at the edge and ride in. This confirms the standing free-day rule our free transport on 1 November roundup tracked from the city's tariff. Outside the free window, normal fares apply (a single ticket is 4.40 zł; see our Toruń tickets guide).
Getting to the cemeteries, day by day
- Saturday 24 - Sunday 25 October: regular weekend schedules, plus extra courses on bus 18 (Uniwersytet - Cmentarz Centralny - Kolankowskiego) running 7:45-15:30 every 30 minutes - the first build-up weekend.
- Monday 26 - Friday 30 October: school-day schedules. On weekdays, buses 14 and 17 serve the main gate of the Central Cemetery between 8:00 and 18:00, and lines 28, 33 and 42 reach the Mazowiecka loop on Celnicza street, a short walk from the grounds.
- Saturday 31 October: Saturday schedules, plus the special cemetery bus O-1 (Dworzec Autobusowy - Cmentarz Centralny - Odrodzenia) running 7:15-16:15 about every 22 minutes, and bus 18 on its extra 7:15-15:30 every-30-minutes overlay.
- Sunday 1 November (All Saints' Day): Sunday schedules, everything free 5:00-23:00. The O-1 runs 7:15-18:00 every 5 to 20 minutes, and bus 18 runs 7:05-18:00 every 5 to 20 minutes - skipping the Polna, Kociewska and Mleczna detour (the Dębowa Góra stop towards the cemetery, Fort IV, Kanałowa and Kociewska are not served). Selected courses on line 31 reach the Barbarka national memorial site in the woods outside the centre. Bus 24 does not run.
- Monday 2 November: school-day schedules return; bus 18 keeps an hourly weekend-style service to the cemetery, and lines 14 and 17 serve the main gate in daytime hours.
The pattern is simple: the O-1 from the bus station and the 18 from the university district are the two dedicated cemetery routes, converging on the Central Cemetery from the south.
Driving: what changes around the cemeteries
From Friday 30 October at 18:00 until Monday 2 November at 15:00, the road authority's rules apply:
- Centralny Cmentarz Komunalny: the turn from Grudziądzka into Celnicza (at the Hanasza roundabout) is restricted. General traffic from the south is directed onto the lorry (TIR) parking strips along the cemetery's western and northern fence, with exits onto Grudziądzka near the crematorium and at the Strobanda junction. From the east (Mazowiecka), drivers can enter Celnicza and use the free, unguarded "Oferta" lot; parking on Celnicza's shoulders is also allowed, and the ARD-Forteczna pavilion lot is free. All parking areas exit via Celnicza towards Mazowiecka only.
- Cemetery no. 2 (Grudziądzka 129-137): no stopping on the north side of Koniuchy; parking on the south side, at Wielki Rów (MPO) and Kozacka (Eurospar), plus a free lot in front of the Kometa centre (Grudziądzka 162) on 1 November.
- Wybickiego cemetery: angle parking on the left lanes of both carriageways of Trasa Prezydenta Raczkiewicza where signed, with a 30 km/h limit between Szosa Chełmińska and Legionów.
- St George's cemetery (Gałczyńskiego): one-way from Trasa Staromostowa towards Matejki, parallel parking along the north side; free parking at the Cinema City lot on 1 November, plus lots at the European Film Centre (from Czerwona Droga) and Bema street (Hala Arena).
- Smaller cemeteries on Poznańska, Włocławska, Turystyczna, Owsiana and Antczaka have their own no-stopping zones and signed lots - check the road authority's notice for your street.
The cemeteries on most visitors' lists
The Centralny Cmentarz Komunalny is where the city gathers - a huge, wooded ground that earns Toruń's only dedicated special line. Barbarka, the forest memorial to the victims of the Second World War, draws a quieter crowd and is reachable on selected line 31 courses on 1 November. The customs are the same as across Poland: tidy the grave, lay chrysanthemums, light a znicz, and expect the most atmospheric - and most crowded - hour just after dusk. Sunset on 1 November is around 16:10. With 1 November falling on a Sunday this year, shops are closed anyway; buy candles and flowers by Saturday. Monday 2 November is a normal working day. Our All Saints' Day in Poland guide explains the tradition, and if you are new to the city, the Toruń weekend guide covers the UNESCO old town; the Toruń Christmas market follows in late November.
Other cities' plans: Katowice and Silesia (free, 18 cemetery lines), Poznań (free), Łódź (free every year), Warsaw, Kraków, Gdańsk and Wrocław.
Why Toruń's plan is worth copying
Toruń is a mid-size city of about 200,000 people, and its All Saints plan is a model of the genre: one clearly named special line (the O-1) between the main station and the main cemetery, a free-ride window with exact clock times rather than a vague "all day", free Park & Ride to keep cars out of the cemetery streets, and a single road-authority notice that lists every cemetery in the city with its own parking rule. For expats used to bigger cities where the plan runs to dozens of lines and several announcements, Toruń's version fits on one screen - and everything in it is dated and confirmed for 2026.
Practical notes for the day
- Use the free Park & Ride. Olimpijska 42 sits right by the tram loop towards the centre; Dziewulskiego 38 covers the western approach. Both are free 5:00-23:00 on 1 November.
- The O-1 is the tourist-friendly option. It starts at the Dworzec Autobusowy (bus station, next to the main train station) - if you are coming in from Warsaw or Gdańsk for the day, it is one straight bus to the cemetery gates.
- Buy znicze and flowers by Saturday. Shops are closed on Sunday 1 November; stalls at the cemetery gates sell at holiday prices.
- Line 24 riders, plan around it. The line is suspended on 1 November; neighbouring lines and the O-1 cover the cemetery direction.

Frequently asked questions
Is public transport free in Toruń on 1 November 2026?
Yes - all MZK buses and trams are free on Sunday 1 November 2026 between 5:00 and 23:00. The Park & Ride lots at Olimpijska 42 and Dziewulskiego 38 are free in the same hours. Normal fares apply outside that window.
Which buses go to Toruń's Central Cemetery on All Saints?
The special O-1 line (Dworzec Autobusowy - Cmentarz Centralny - Odrodzenia) runs every 5-20 minutes on 1 November (7:15-18:00) and about every 22 minutes on 31 October. Bus 18 (Uniwersytet - Cmentarz Centralny - Kolankowskiego) adds extra courses from 24 October, reaching every 5-20 minutes on 1 November. On weekdays, lines 14 and 17 serve the main gate 8:00-18:00, and lines 28, 33 and 42 stop at the Mazowiecka loop nearby.
Can I park at the Central Cemetery in Toruń over All Saints?
Yes, but entry from Grudziądzka into Celnicza is restricted from 30 October 18:00 to 2 November 15:00. From the south, use the lorry parking strips along the cemetery fence; from the east, the free "Oferta" lot on Celnicza or the free ARD-Forteczna lot. All exits run via Celnicza towards Mazowiecka.
Is anything running on Monday 2 November 2026 in Toruń?
Normal school-day schedules return, with two exceptions: bus 18 keeps an hourly service to the Central Cemetery, and lines 14 and 17 serve the cemetery's main gate in daytime hours. The street changes around cemeteries end at 15:00.
Does anything not run on 1 November in Toruń?
Bus line 24 is suspended on 1 November. Bus 18 skips its Polna, Kociewska and Mleczna detour, so the Dębowa Góra (towards the cemetery), Fort IV, Kanałowa and Kociewska stops are not served that day.
