Wroclaw All Saints 2026: Cemetery Trams, Buses and Closures

The essentials: For All Saints 2026 Wroclaw runs 16 special cemetery lines - nine E trams and seven C buses (a new letter replacing the old 300-series) - starting 24-25 October, with the full network on 31 October and 1 November and key trams every 10 minutes on the holiday. Normal fares apply.

Wrocław published its All Saints 2026 transport plan on 23 October, and it comes with a small piece of transport-nerd news: the special cemetery buses are no longer numbered in the 300s. From this year they carry the letter C - a permanent change, the city's transport department says - while the special cemetery trams keep their traditional letter E. In total, 16 special lines (nine tram, seven bus) will supplement the regular network between Saturday 24 October and Monday 2 November.

The plan's promise is simple: several streets by the cemeteries will close to cars, but not to public transport - buses and trams will pull right up to the cemetery gates every few minutes. Here is how it works, day by day.

The plan in phases

  • Saturday 24 - Sunday 25 October: the first four special trams - E1 (Oporów - Grabiszyński cemetery - city centre - Osobowice), E6 (Stadion Olimpijski - Grunwald - Grabiszyński cemetery), E8 (Gaj - city centre - Osobowice) and E9 (Osobowice - Biskupin - Grabiszyński cemetery) - run 9:00-17:00 every 20 minutes, joined by special buses C2 and C6 every 15 minutes. Regular lines adjust too: bus A also stops at Grabiszyńska (Cmentarz II), all line N runs between 9:00 and 17:00 go through the Kiełczów cemetery, line 118 gets extra runs to Wojnów every hour, and line 121 runs every 15 minutes in the morning. Trams are back on the repaired Pomorska track from Saturday.
  • Friday 30 October: special tram E1 runs (Oporów - Osobowice).
  • Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November: the full network. All nine E trams and all seven C buses run from 8:00 to 18:00 - trams every 20 minutes, buses every 15. On All Saints' Day itself frequencies go higher and the day runs longer: trams E1, E3, E5, E6, E8 and E9 run every 10 minutes between 8:00 and 18:00 (every 20 until 20:00), E2, E4 and E7 every 20 minutes all day; buses C2, C5 and C6 run every 10 minutes between 8:00 and 15:00, easing to every 15 and then every 30 by 20:00, with C1, C3, C4 and C7 every 15 minutes in the core hours.
  • Monday 2 November (All Souls' Day, a normal working day): tram E1 runs 9:00-13:00 every 15 minutes.

Regular lines get reinforced as well - lines K, 118, 121 and 123 among them - and MPK is posting several dozen staff at the cemeteries and in the city centre over the holiday weekend to help with directions. Full route lists for every E and C line are in the city's announcement (linked in Sources below).

Tickets: normal fares

Nothing is waived: on all special lines the standard Wrocław tickets apply - single, time and season tickets at the usual prices (a single ride is 4.60 zł; see our Wrocław tickets and prices guide). Wrocław has not joined the cities offering free rides on 1 November this year (Łódź, Poznań, the Silesian GZM, Bydgoszcz and Toruń have - see our free transport roundup).

Look at the E-line routes and you see the design: they stitch the big housing districts to the two giant cemeteries. E1 links Oporów in the west with Osobowice in the north through the centre, E6 brings the Grunwald and Zacisze side in from Stadion Olimpijski, E8 climbs from Gaj in the south, and E9 sweeps through Biskupin and Sępolno. Between them, plus the C buses and the reinforced regular lines, most of the city is one ride - not two - from a cemetery gate.

Practical tips for the weekend

  • Check the stop signs before you travel: several stops change status or location for the holiday (the Bardzka (Cmentarz) stops become regular stops for all day lines, and the Most Osobowicki bus stop shifts to the line 129 bay).
  • Use the journey planner in jakdojade or the MPK app - both carry the special lines once they start running.
  • If you are arriving in the city over the long weekend, note that the airport bus 106 and the main station area are not part of the cemetery network - plan the extra transfer. Our Wrocław airport to city guide covers the arrival leg.
  • The busiest hours are late morning to dusk on 1 November. If you can visit on the mornings of 24-25 October or on Friday 30 October, you will have the cemeteries nearly to yourself - and the E1, E6, E8, E9, C2 and C6 lines already run then.

Driving and parking

The city closes selected streets around the cemeteries to general traffic but keeps them open to buses and trams, which is why the official advice is unambiguous: take public transport and you will be dropped at the gate. Among the changes in force, ulica Morwowa becomes one-way, pushing buses 100, 136, 143 and 903 onto a diversion via Tarnogajska, aleja Armii Krajowej and Bardzka (skipping the Złotostocka stop in that direction), and the Most Osobowicki bus stop moves to the line 129 position. Police and municipal guard posts will stand at the main cemetery approach points all weekend - follow the signs and officers' instructions, and expect the usual police reminder for this weekend: never leave bags or valuables unattended on graves or in parked cars, and speak up to an officer if you see a lost child or a senior who needs help.

One piece of good news for the cemeteries themselves: on 1 November all entrances to the big cemeteries open, including those normally kept closed, and opening hours are extended so visits can be unhurried. At the two largest - Grabiszyński and Osobowicki - free tool boxes (buckets, rakes, spades, brooms and light stools) are available for tidying graves, restocked for the occasion.

The two cemeteries most expats should know

Wrocław's Grabiszyński cemetery is the city's largest and one of its most moving places: laid out in a 19th-century park, it holds the graves of Wrocław's wartime generations and the people who rebuilt the city after 1945. The special E lines terminate right at its gate on Grabiszyńska street - "Grabiszyńska (Cmentarz)" is the stop to remember. Osobowicki cemetery, across the river in the north, is the second giant and the terminus of tram E1; its grounds were a battlefield in the siege of Festung Breslau in 1945, and parts of it remain deliberately overgrown. If you have no family grave to visit, an All Saints evening walk at Grabiszyński - thousands of znicze lanterns lit under the old trees - is one of the most beautiful and most Polish experiences the city offers. Go after dark on 1 November, take the E tram rather than a car, and expect company: this is Wrocław's busiest weekend of the year.

On and around 1 November Polish families clean graves, lay chrysanthemums and light znicze. Our All Saints' Day in Poland guide covers the customs, including why the flowers are always chrysanthemums and what the second day - All Souls, Monday 2 November this year, a working day - adds. Sunday 1 November 2026 is a public holiday, so shops are closed regardless of the trading-Sunday calendar.

Other cities run their own operations this week: see our guides for Kraków, Gdańsk, Warsaw and Szczecin.
