Krakow All Saints 2026: Cemetery Buses, Trams and Closures
The essentials: For All Saints 2026 Krakow runs staged cemetery transport from 24 October to 2 November, peaking on 31 October - 1 November with 34 special lines (8 tram, 26 bus) serving 25 cemeteries. Regular KMK fares apply, and key streets by Rakowicki and Pradnik Czerwony cemeteries close to general traffic.

Kraków's public transport authority (ZTP) and operator MPK published the city's All Saints 2026 transport plan on 22 October 2026, and it is one of the largest in Poland: 34 special lines, 25 cemeteries covered, and staged reinforcements running from Saturday 24 October right through to Monday 2 November. If you live in Kraków - or you are visiting over the long weekend - this is how to get to the cemeteries without sitting in a jam on aleja 29 Listopada.
The short version: leave the car at home on Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November. Several streets around the biggest cemeteries close to general traffic, some regular lines stop running entirely, and the special lines take over. Tickets are the usual KMK fares - unlike Łódź, Poznań or the Silesian GZM, Kraków does not make rides free on 1 November.
The plan in phases
ZTP rolls out the extra service in stages, so the right answer depends on the day you go:
- Saturday 24 - Sunday 25 October: first reinforcements. Special tram line 84 runs from Kurdwanów P+R to Cmentarz Rakowicki roughly 9:00-17:30 every 20 minutes. Bus 105 runs more often (taking over the frequency of line 405, which pauses in the hours around 9:00-19:00), and every run of bus 184 between about 9:00 and 19:00 is extended to Cmentarz Prądnik Czerwony. Larger vehicles appear on lines 128, 142, 193 and 442. Street traffic around cemeteries is unchanged this weekend.
- Friday 30 October and Monday 2 November: trams 83 and 84 run every 15 minutes from about 6:00 to 18:00, tram 7 goes to every 7.5 minutes at peak and tram 13 to every 15 minutes at peak. Line 105 runs every 15 minutes (about 9:00-19:00) and 184 again runs its extended cemetery route, every 10 minutes between 9:00 and 17:00. Lines 49 and 405 are suspended. From about 10:00 on Friday 30 October, ulica Rakowicka closes between Olszańska and Grochowska.
- Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November: the full offer - regular services plus all 34 special lines, with changed traffic organization around the biggest cemeteries.
All Saints' Day itself, Sunday 1 November 2026, is a public holiday in Poland. Shops are closed (it is both a holiday and a Sunday, so the trading ban applies twice over), and Monday 2 November - All Souls' Day, when many families do their second cemetery visit - is a normal working day with the reinforcements above.
The peak days: 31 October and 1 November
On the Saturday and Sunday the special network comprises 8 special tram lines (numbered 81-89) and 26 special bus lines (numbered in the 800s), per ZTP's official list (komunikat 2226/2026). They serve 25 cemeteries in Kraków and the surrounding communes. Twelve of the lines run every 10 minutes or better, and most of the rest run at least every 20 minutes in the busiest hours.
The cemeteries with the most connections:
- Prądnik Czerwony (Batowicki) - 15 special connections, almost all buses (801, 802, 803, 804, 805, 806, 809, 814, 828, 842, 872, 884, 888, 899) plus the extended regular line 184.
- Rakowicki - 11 connections, and the easiest by tram: special trams 81 (from Borek Fałęcki), 83 (from Nowy Bieżanów P+R), 84 (from Kurdwanów P+R) and 85 (from os. Piastów), plus bus 884 and several lines stopping at Rakowicki Zachód. Trams 81, 83 and 84 run 8:00-20:00, every 10 minutes between 9:00 and 17:00.
- Grębałów - 10 connections (806, 820, 838, 842, 863, 874).
- Podgórski - 8 connections (803, 804, 807, 814, 874).
One line is worth knowing by number: bus 804 links five cemeteries - Batowice, Podgórski, Prokocim, Bieżanów and the municipal cemetery in Wieliczka (Wieliczka Kampus stop) - useful if your family's graves are spread across the city. Special bus 856 runs from Czerwone Maki P+R to Podgórki Tynieckie, and line 883 serves Skawina's municipal cemetery entirely within zone II.
Regular lines also change on 31 October and 1 November, and this is where visitors get caught out. Suspended all day: trams 11, 15, 17 and 76 (and tram 9 between 8:00 and 20:00) and buses 105, 128, 182, 184, 191, 199, 405 and 442. A second group of buses - 107, 138, 142, 163, 174 and 195 - pauses roughly 8:00-19:00. In exchange, tram 16 is extended to run Pleszów - Dworzec Towarowy, bus 72 goes to every 10 minutes (8:00-20:00), and on 1 November tram 12 runs every 10 minutes between 9:00 and 20:00. If your usual route to work or the airport involves any of the suspended lines, plan around it - see our Kraków public transport tickets and prices and Kraków airport to city guides for the alternatives.
Street closures and parking
The city's message is blunt: around the biggest cemeteries there is no way to give every driver access and parking, so public transport gets priority. In practice, on 31 October and 1 November:
- Prądnik Czerwony: ulica Powstańców is closed to general traffic between Piasta Kołodzieja and Strzelców, and ulica Strzelców is closed towards rondo Barei from Powstańców. A dedicated bus lane is created on Strzelców, and there is no left turn from aleja 29 Listopada into Powstańców.
- Rakowicki: ulica Rakowicka closes between Olszańska and Grochowska from about 10:00 on Friday 30 October; it reopens to its normal layout on Monday 2 November, when the Cmentarz Rakowicki 02 stop becomes a terminus.
- Grębałów: ulica Darwina is closed between Kocmyrzowska and Blokowa, and Architektów and Poległych in Krzesławice become one-way on the marked stretches, including the night of 31 October to 1 November.
Temporary stops appear near the Salwator cemetery (lines 100 and 101), at Półłanki (123, 163, 863), in Bieżanów (804, 814) and at Podgórki Tynieckie. MPK is holding a reserve of 10 buses and 6 trams for breakdowns and crowd surges, and ZTP's 24-hour infoline (+48 12 616 86 69) answers route questions around the clock.
Tickets: normal fares, no free rides
Nothing in the ZTP or MPK announcements changes the fare table, so standard KMK tickets apply on all special lines. Under the tariff in force since 2 March 2026 that means 6 zł for a single ride, 8 zł for a 60-minute ticket and 20 zł for a 24-hour zone I ticket (reduced fares are half). Note the zone trap: the special buses to Wieliczka and Skawina cross into zone II, so a zone I ticket is not enough for the full trip - buy an agglomeration ticket that covers both zones.
This is worth spelling out because several Polish cities do waive fares on 1 November - Łódź, Poznań, the GZM in Silesia, Bydgoszcz and Toruń among them, as our free transport on 1 November 2026 roundup explains. Kraków is not on that list: pay and validate as usual. Inspectors do work the holiday.
Why everyone is going to the cemetery
If this is your first November in Poland, the scale of the operation makes sense once you have seen All Saints' Day here. On and around 1 November, most Polish families visit the graves of relatives to clean them, lay flowers - above all chrysanthemums, the flower of the season - and light znicze, the red-capped grave lanterns that turn cemeteries into fields of small flames after dark. It is one of the most moving sights of the Polish year, and it is why an ordinary tram timetable will not cope: hundreds of thousands of people move across the city in a single weekend. Our All Saints' Day in Poland guide covers the customs in more depth.
Kraków's Rakowicki cemetery, opened in 1803, doubles as one of the city's great historic sites - the burial place of painters Jan Matejko and Józef Mehoffer, poet Wisława Szymborska and hundreds of notable Kraków families - so even if you have no grave to visit, a quiet walk there in the days around 1 November is a memorable way to understand the holiday. Go early in the morning if you want the atmosphere without the crowds; the peak crush is mid-afternoon on 1 November.
Warsaw and Szczecin run similar operations this week - see our guides to Warsaw's cemetery transport plan and Szczecin's All Saints trams and buses if your travels take you there instead.

Frequently asked questions
When do Kraków's special cemetery lines run in 2026?
In stages. The first reinforcements run on the weekend of 24-25 October (tram 84 to Rakowicki, extended bus 184 to Prądnik Czerwony, more frequent 105). Friday 30 October and Monday 2 November bring extra trams 83 and 84, and the full network of 34 special lines - 8 tram and 26 bus - runs on Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November 2026.
Which Kraków cemeteries have the most connections?
Prądnik Czerwony (15 special connections), Rakowicki (11, including four special tram lines), Grębałów (10) and Podgórski (8). Special bus 804 links five cemeteries on one route: Batowice, Podgórski, Prokocim, Bieżanów and Wieliczka.
Is public transport free in Kraków on 1 November 2026?
No. Unlike Łódź, Poznań or the Silesian GZM, Kraków has not waived fares for All Saints 2026. Regular KMK ticket prices apply on all special lines, including agglomeration (zone II) fares for trips to Wieliczka or Skawina.
Can I drive to Rakowicki or Prądnik Czerwony cemetery?
Only with difficulty. Ulica Rakowicka closes between Olszańska and Grochowska from about 10:00 on Friday 30 October, and on 31 October - 1 November ulica Powstańców and part of ulica Strzelców near Prądnik Czerwony close to general traffic, with a bus-only lane on Strzelców. ZTP's advice is to take public transport, which gets priority around the big cemeteries.
Which regular lines are suspended on 31 October and 1 November?
Trams 11, 15, 17 and 76 all day (tram 9 also pauses 8:00-20:00), and buses 105, 128, 182, 184, 191, 199, 405 and 442. Buses 107, 138, 142, 163, 174 and 195 pause for roughly 8:00-19:00. Their work is taken over by the special lines and reinforced services such as trams 12, 16 and bus 72.
